In this series we remember songs that have been forgotten or were never even given the attention they deserved. Today's Hidden Gem is Maemmaeya by Purple (Hashtag)
Purple were a sub-unit of the group Hashtag. They actually did the whole retro thing before it became a trend in a big way. It's a nice song for a group that should have been given more promotions to show off their strengths.
Hashtag were on hiatus for nearly 4 years. Then all of the sudden they announced they would make a comeback with all 7 members still active! Honestly miraculous. I guess it was too good to be true because two members were kicked out of the team right before the official comeback. It was very confusing because they did schedules with the seven members after their hiatus, weird that they'd stick around all that time only to have a lineup change right before the new music. Dajeong, one of the members, here was one of the two members removed. Dajeong is still active though, posting lots of covers on instagram. It's unclear if Hashtag is still active, but they made a comeback last year. Seungmin says in her instagram that her job is a dog walker. Subin isn't up to much it seems.
