  • I was wondering, do you listen to other music outside of Kpop?

    • Sorry for the late response, but I do listen to music out of kpop, mainly 80s stuff like Madonna, Pet Shop Boys, New Order, Depeche Mode and some mid 2000s stuff like Lady Gaga and Britney Spears. Aphex Twins is also pretty cool but I've only heard a bit of them. For metal I guess l like Beast and Black and Sabaton, and for prog I like Caravan, Genesis, and Styx.

      Gotcha gotcha. Honestly, I don't listen to most of the stuff you mentioned so I don't know much about them. But that's mainly because I've been listening to aloooot of Kpop for a while, lol.

  • I envy how easy it is to name children in other cultures than Chinese naming conventions.

  • Honestly don't get personally how TXT is so triggering nowadays, but the hate on them trend means they are probably more popular than I think.

  • If kpop fans kept with their vocal obsession that they bring up to insult groups/companies they dislike more, Spica would theoretically be bigger, Mamamoo was a miracle due to the charisma the team has plus some high-level collabs on top of their skill. They may have had not mamy hardcore fans at the beginning but a collab with K.Will or Bumkey surely played a part in bringing attention to their skills unlike IU collabs with groups like High4 or Fiestar that remained obscure throughout their career comparatively.

  • Still don't get the hype over music show wins except for in cases where a group needs it to get phones and more gigs because they're not superbig, but counting who has the most is weird, because everyone knows it'll just be whichever group has a fandom+stats that care depending on the show's rules of course.

  • I tried taking a sociology class once but got bored because it was very feminist centric and I had already covered that material before. If there is any non-feminist sociology theories to read I would be very happy because for some reason at my uni every humanities class seems to have it even if it's nowhere stated in the title and you only get your syllabus on the first day.

  • I won't deny there is a sort of ethnic pride with my support of the Chinese girls in GP999 for me, maybe that's what the Korean voters seem to feel rn considering the interim results I guess. Yaning is my fave of C group followed by Ruqi and then Xiaoting. I will admit I mainly actually watched episodes of this show instead of just reading asian junkie for info on it like Produce 48 because there were Chinese girls in it.

  • Being called a Kboo is a new thing for me.

  • Lovelyz being bigger in South Korea than internationally is one of thefew reasons (as with the popularity of IU) why ifans shouldn't ever insult the music taste of South Koreans, believe me most Korean ballads may be what I find bland but compared to what songs dominate the Canadian charts they're high quality.

  • Most idol singers sound the same anyways in kpop I remember back in the day when a T-ara song was released the struggle to tell apart members voices in group songs. I consider that a good thing as it doesn't lead to unnecessary showmanship ruining what is just pop music.

  • I don't get the fuss the majority of kpop fans I've met(maybe it's a me problem) had with vocal processing even if you're pop song sounds like it hasn't been auto-tuned in the traditional sense some elements most likely have been added to the vocals to enhance them in some way.

  • If Lovelyz does disband I feel like Kei and Mijoo will still have decent solo careers idk about the rest of the girls that much though. Also who will OnePiece produce for once they're gone guy is pretty much intensely tied to Lovelyz sound and music wise that I don't think he's worked with any other artists.

  • I guess I like Shinee but they are the biggest victim of my high expectations for kpop groups in general music wise(this group somehow had RDD and Lucifer right after eachother quality control is not SM's thing for them title track wise).

  • If I wanted to make a hit thread I would do it on Blackpink's influence over current gg sound, they are the reason why girl crush is the trend rn and that's pretty undeniable.

  • If Loona really ends guess I'll have to start writing a huge appreciation post then...

  • Don't get how anyone could find current year of kpop worse than 2013 like at least most songs stay as one song consistently that's always nice, shame about girl groups becoming less melodic on average but hey like all trends it'll die with time.

  • i'm obsessed with Loona rn, downloaded their discography! my favorite title so far is So What! Any songs similar by them?

    • So What is similar to Oops! and Hide and Seek album track wise, Why not Title track wise I would say.

    • I also love Hi High! What do you think of the sub units? Yay or Nay?

    • I love the subunits so yay for me. Love and Live is probably my fave title track of the subunits overall though they're all really good tunes.

    • What are your favorite bsides of OT12?

    • I would say Star is a b side with an mv as it came out a while after why Not so there's that one for sure at the top, following that in terms of faves is Universe, Oh(Yes I am) and Perfect Love.

    Explain why I extremely dislike some of them

    Maybe make a Crayon Pop appreciation post(they only have one bad song for a kpop group that's legendary).

    - Write a post on how amazing Black Swan by Rainbow was and how the kpop world was not ready for it
