In this series we remember songs that have been forgotten or were never even given the attention they deserved. Today's Hidden Gem is Grapes by Busters
Busters have gone viral for kinda all the wrong reasons. First they got attention at ISAC when they made these cute bento boxes with hand-written letters for their like 10 fans, but those "fans" were just pretending so they could get ahead in line and support other groups, so ultimately the very few people who showed up to support them didn't even do that. Then when this comeback happened their were rumors that this was a last ditch effort by the company. This was a false rumor, but Kpop fans supported anyways. Then shortly after this comeback, their leader Chaeyeon was slapped by a old male co-worker for the children's show she hosted. Controversies aside, I really like this song. It is fun and silly, clearly inspired by the JooE Tropicana Sparkling adds. Idk the best Kpop songs are the ones that aren't super serious like this.
After this comeback Minjung left the team and was replaced by Yeseo, who is now a member of Kep1er and will join Limelight after their disbandment. After Pink Promise, they had a huge revamp in the lineup where only Yeseo on Jisoo (the last original member) remained. Busters had a huge lineup change yet again and zero original members remain. The one thing that has been consistent though is debuting extremely young members. So the lack of protection for these girls and their young ages is concerning; it's a reason why I haven't been able to get into them in a big way. The group is still alive though despite all the lineup changes. Chaeyeon is now a member of TripleS, who have achieved decent success, very happy for her because she's suffered the most and worked the hardest. Minji works for a clothing company now.
