In this series we remember songs that have been forgotten or were never even given the attention they deserved. Today's Hidden Gem is The Light by The Ark
This group is a tragic example of a what if scenario. Honestly one of the best debuts ever in Kpop. They got a lot of positive attention for this debut, it's heart-breaking but incredibly well-done music video, and the members were doing BTS dance covers before anybody else. The daughter in this music video is played by member Suji but she is the only member who appears in the mv. Be prepared to cry if you haven't seen it already.
And just like that they were gone. This was released on the anniversary of The Sewol Ferry accident, so this whole group kinda just ended up being a special project to commemorate that day even if that wasn't their intentions. All members remained active for quite some time. Euna Kim competed on Unpretty Rapstar season three. Then she competed on The Unit where she missed the final lineup by ONE SPOT! Then she re-debuted in a duo called Khan with another former member of The Ark, Minju. They disbanded after one song. All this rejection made Euna Kim give up on the industry. She now got married, lives in the states, and is very Christian. Minju still posts covers every once in awhile. Yujin was on the variety show Miss Back, which was a healthy competition between women who have been struggling in the industry for many years. She also competed on The Voice of Korea and did pretty well. She debuted solo in 2019 and posts covers on her YouTube channel. Jane and Suji were on a Kdrama called idolm@ster which debuted a group with irl promotions called RGP. Suji was the lead actress in that Kdrama. She also competed on the Unit with Euna Kim and she barely made the top 9 and got to debut with Uni.T. She has gotten married and The Ark members reunited at her wedding. I think she plans to pursue modelling. I feel with the right promotions she could have been an It girl, and I think she seems like a kind person. Jane went solo two years ago with a stagename stylized as jANE. Her most recent comeback was about a year ago and she still vlogs on YouTube.
