In this series we remember songs that have been forgotten or were never even given the attention they deserved. Today's Hidden Gem is Lights by Huh Chanmi

Huh Chanmi is one of my favorite performers in Kpop. She is probably the most unlucky person you'll ever meet yet she still perseveres. After over 16 years she finally made a solo debut with this song. I think if the mixing was a little better I really would have liked this song. It's still good but she sounds a little off and they could have shown off her vocals better.

After this debut Chanmi competed on Miss Trot 2 and actually made it to the finale. She has since made a trot comeback which I think shows off her vocals a little better. Sadly she hasn't done much in the past couple years.

She sounds great. I think I see what you mean about the mixing. There are some weird volume issues but I don't notice it that much. It's crazy that she was so close to being in SNSD and f(x). She really was unlucky.

The song itself is really catchy. I like how it sounds like there is just a touch of Latin inspiration without going all-in like a lot of other solo debuts do. Also something about that music box type sound in the backround works really well.

I like most k-trot songs I've heard and Haeundae Beach is no exception. She certainly has that star quality so hopefully she hasn't given up just yet.

She also almost debuted in T-ara but mbk put her in Coed School and F-ve Dolls instead. Had she not been evil edited, she probably would have debuted in IOI too because she started out as one of the most popular contestants. There also was a chance she could have been added to Momoland, but because of the evil edits, her label figured she'd add more harm than good to the groups popularity so they added Taeha instead.
