In this series we remember songs that have been forgotten or were never even given the attention they deserved. Today's Hidden Gem is The Grand Dreams by Minseo
Minseo is another singer I've always liked. This song has such a happy vibe that I really like. The orchestration and the piano instrumental are gorgeous. It's a really nicely composed song from a technical standpoint. There's elements of musical theatre, jazz, classical music, and then pop music that all come together nicely.
Minseo is an odd case. Before she officially debuted, she had a massive hit in Korea when she collaborated with Yoon Jong Shin. She even won on multiple times on inkigayo with a pre-debut project, that is unheard of. But then when she actually debuted with this song, her career never really took off. It's not fair, Koreans are so wishy washy. For no reason at all they'll move on to another artist. Minseo stayed with Mystic for 5 years and also pursued an acting career. Last year she left Mystic and is under a new smaller label, Bill Entertainment. She made her first comeback under this label last week. So she is still active at least.
