In this series we remember songs that have been forgotten or were never even given the attention they deserved. Today's Hidden Gem is In Front of the Mirror by Glam
This was one of the first songs I heard when getting into Kpop. I would watch compilation videos of Kpop girl groups and this was the song they used to represent Glam. There really aren't too many girl group songs like this. It's slow but not a ballad, not super catchy but a little bit. It's just kinda hypnotizing.
This was Glam's final comeback. Shortly after this song member Dahee got in trouble for blackmailing a famous actor and got arrested. With this being Glam's second member who got in trouble (one of the original members was a sasaeng who got removed after debut) Bighit decided to disband the team. This is another one of the biggest "what if" situations in Kpop. If the scandal didn't happen would Glam skyrocket into stardom since their labelmates BTS did? Would BTS be able to skyrocket into stardom if Bighit was managing two groups at the same time? Because I would argue Glam's disbandment allowed them to focus exclusively on BTS which helped keep their momentum going. Jiyeon went solo under the stagename Lucy under Ateez's label. Sadly she only released like two songs, and then left the company. She's independent now under the name Haee. Zinni is a famous skateboarder, that's pretty cool. Miso used to vlog, she's not very active on social media. Then there's Dahee who served her time in prison and is now a broadcast jockey on Afreeca Tv. This is a popular path for former Kpop stars, but Dahee has found massive success making hundreds of thousands of dollars. Good for her I guess.
