In this series we remember songs that have been forgotten or were never even given the attention they deserved. Today's Hidden Gem is Pingpong Game by Real Girls Project (RGP)
RGP were a group formed for the Kdrama idolm@ster that actually had promotions in real life. The show was about a nugu girl group's struggle to fame and featured people who have debuted in the industry and you can tell the script was directly written out based on their personal experiences. These are 5 of the 10 members and this sub-unit promoted after the series was over. It's such a fun song, I miss when Kpop MVs were this colorful and had a simplicity in the visuals. That was my favorite style for Digipedi, bright, simple, and colorful.
I was hoping that RGP would become a permanent group after this sub-unit or we'd at least see all 10 members again. Sadly that never happened. Probably too hard to arrange all of their contracts since their company had people co-signed with other labels. Yeeun, Yukika, and Sori all competed on Mix Nine after this while Suji competed on The Unit. Sori was the only one who really got attention and actually made the final lineup for the girls. Sadly Mix 9 was a scam and neither the boys nor girls debuted. Suji made the final lineup for Uni.T and got to debut with them. We never really saw Jiwon and Yeeun do music again. Suji also abandoned music after Uni.T to pursue acting (She was the lead in the drama). Recently she got married and all these members showed up to the wedding! Yukika debuted solo and has a cult following. She also got married recently, announced her pregnancy, and retirement from the industry. Sori debuted solo and got decent attention for her debut. Her duo, Cocosori, had a falling out short afterwards and disbanded. She was a contestant on Somebody, a dating show for dancers, and actually got attention for her chemistry with this one guy. She announced her retirement from music shortly afterwards but, has still released OSTs from time to time and vlogs frequently still.
