In this series we remember songs that have been forgotten or were never even given the attention they deserved. Today's Hidden Gem is The Rain by Ladies' Code
How Ladies Code didn't make it is beyond me. When they made a comeback as a trio I admired their courage so much. But on top of that the music was incredible. This is literally one of the best Kpop songs I've ever heard. The high notes on the final chorus are so satisfying on the ears. Just the elegance from this concept (and Galaxy) are amazing. The dance is iconic too with that hand motion. Just a really satisfying unique classy chill concept.
The Galaxy and Rain were supposed to be part of a trilogy concepts. However, since Polaris is broke they just said the third part is gonna be a fan meet. Polaris is a subsidiary of BBC if that gives you any idea of how terrible they are. They were on hiatus for a long time, then they made two more comebacks with kinda a different sound. In my opinion they picked songs that were out of their vocal range or the mixing could have been better. I think they're stronger with lower songs and not belting out high stuff. In 2020, after their 7 year contract was up, they decided to go on their separate paths. Ashley found decent success as a vlogger on YouTube. She was one of the first English speaking Kpop artists to do that. She also made her solo debut in 2018 but hasn't made a comeback. She hosts radio stations a lot too. Sojung debuted as a soloist in 2017. She was on some survival vocal show and made it to the finale but didn't win. She has charted decently solo and has since joined DSP. Her most recent comeback was a few months ago. Zuny is pursuing a career as an actress under her real name. The ladies just celebrated their 10th year anniversary since debut. They have a close bond, understandably after such a tragedy. I hope they're all doing well, they seem to be okay right now.
