Hidden Gems #511: Cherry On Top by Uni+G

In this series we remember songs that have been forgotten or were never even given the attention they deserved. Today's Hidden Gem is Cherry On Top by Uni+G

I didn't realize this video had as many views as it did! Still underrated though. This was the group that got 2nd place during one of the semi-finals. It consists of Euijin of Sonamoo, Yoomin of Melody Day, Semmi of Matilda, Haein of Laboum, Yena of G-Reyish, and a model named Boreum. Super catchy, cool outfits, amazing shoes! The look like they could be a legit group.

Haein, Yoomin, and Yena got eliminated after this round. Then Semmi and Boreum did not make the final lineup. Semmi should have (and probably did because there was an error in the Uni.T's final ranking where someone was "accidentally" rigged out and I'm 100% sure it was Semmi). Euijin did debut in Uni.T though and got first place! After the show they all returned to their groups and Boreum never actually debuted in the industry. Yoomin released one more song with Melody Day then they disbanded. Euijin released one more song with Sonamoo (didn't even promote it) and they disbanded. She is now going solo under the stage name Hezz. Semmi released one more ballad with Matilda (again not promoted). Yena did a couple songs with G-Reyish then they disbanded. Haein is the only one still "active." Laboum went viral with Journey To Atlantis in 2021 which lead to them extending their contracts. Sadly they only released one song and then left their label. They are currently in the process of finding a new label. Pretty sad update, other than Brave Girls basically none of the groups on this show actually took off.

This group kinda confuses me, but that's ok. Probably because I didn't see the show. I read that ZN made it into the final lineup, which is really nice. I love her and Haein in Laboum.

I'm guessing this song was created just for the competition which is pretty cool. The "give me love give me love give me love" part sounds SO pretty, and the "You’re so sweetie baby saekomdalkom" sounds like a sexy nursery rhyme, if that makes sense.

Those outfits are fantastic. They look like an A-tier group at the peak of their careers. I love how the red stands out in the black and white scene. I never see you mention shoes but they really are great. Pink heels always grab my attention but the other colors are really pretty too.

During one of the live performances, Haein's heel fell off and she still carried on as if nothing happened
