In this series we remember songs that have been forgotten or were never even given the attention they deserved. Today's Hidden Gem is But Go by A.Kor
A group that was controversial in more ways than one. For one thing, it's a 19+ music video where the guys get brutally murdered. The bigger thing that made them controversial was their main rapper Kemy. She wrote a diss track about Park Bom when she was on hiatus for her drug controversy. Here's a tip: if you're gonna do a girl crush concept, don't piss off the #1 girl crush fandom. So their career was over before it began. All that aside though, this song is a really really strong debut. It's got this high energy throughout. I love the pre-chorus a lot, it sounds lihe she's trying to rush her part in by singing really fast which was a cool stylistic choice. I also love the part during the chorus where Kemy goes apado but go seulpeodo but go and the the other members sing back a response. It's got the cool back and forth thing in this song, each member has lots of personality in their lines throughout the entire song, but it's especially shown here.
A.Kor never recovered from the scandal. They made one full group comeback in 2015 and switched concepts to a brighter pop song (which was also really good actually one of my favorite Kpop songs ever). They did a sub-unit with Kemy and Minju after that with kinda Wa$$up-sound. That was the last thing A.Kor released. Daya and Taehee officially left the group and they made plans to continue as a trio. I think the last thing they did was they were as a group featured in some rapper's music video, but that's like lost media because I have no idea who those rappers were, they didn't mention AKor, and all the forums that brought up their feature have been deleted. So A.kor unofficially disbanded in the spring of 2017. None of the members are active still. Jiyoung performed Chandelier on I Can See Your Voice in 2016 and got some attention for it (she was still a member of A.Kor at the time) but that was 7 years ago. Minju got married and is a mom now. But yeah none of them are active anymore.
