In this series we remember songs that have been forgotten or were never even given the attention they deserved. Today's Hidden Gem is Butterflies by Piggy Dolls
Piggy Dolls got attention when they debuted because the members were plus-sized (such an insulting name). But then most of the members lost weight and then they all left the group. Rather than moving on from this insulting name, they kept the brand alive with a new lineup and zero plus-sized members. A moronic decision, but that doesn't change the fact that the music is great. This song is so nostalgic and summery, I love it so much. Plus I love the way they harmonize during the chorus.
Unsurprisingly, this company had no idea what they were doing. So after this mini-album Piggy Dolls quietly disbanded. Interestingly all members are still active in the industry. Lee Jiyeong, if I'm not mistaken is in an acapella group and a dance group. I think she's also a vocal teacher. She also recently reunited with former member Lee Eunyoung. Lee Eunyoung is now a solo artist named Pie who posts covers on YouTube. Kang Eunyoung (confusing I know) was on I Can See Your Voice 5. She got attention for her vocal cover of Décalcomanie by Mamamoo and was recruited as a member of Pink Fantasy. She is still an active member.
