On this series we remember songs that have been forgotten or were never even given the attention they deserved. Today's Hidden Gem is Catch Me by Baba
This song was lowkey hated on when it came out, which I never really understood. It's a fun catchy song with a fun choreography and their main vocalist is really good. What's the issue?
Baba have been very...confusing to follow. Right when promos started Somi (AKA Bimby) left the group because she was Thai and had visa issues. Bimby was the second member to have the stage name Somi, she replaced the original Somi. Right after Bimby left, she was replaced by a member who also had the stage name Somi. So a third Somi. The 3rd Somi left the group after Catch Me promotions, but returned to the group years later during the Oh! My God era. Anyways, after Catch Me most of the members left except Pureum and SeoAe. Baba gained a bunch of members and made a comeback with Funky Music. Then, all the members except Pureum left. Baba yet again had an almost completely new lineup. Members still were coming and going. Baba officially disbanded in 2020 with a total of 15 member departures over their 5 years together, with only Pureum staying throughout it all. Pureum was going to rebrand the team as BlueBlue, but I think those plans fell through. I guess Pureum was the CEO of the company. She seems to have given up on the Kpop life and just posts covers on instagram
