On this series we remember songs that have been forgotten or were never even given the attention they deserved. Today's Hidden Gem is Lovely by Minzy
Once again, how depressing that a former member of one of the most iconic girl groups of all time and the pioneer of the girl crush concept is on this series. Minzy has been about as lucky as CL after leaving YG. Lots of hiatuses, more bad companies, and no fandom. This was her first song after going independent. It was a very different side of Minzy from what we've seen before, but a lovely one nonetheless. I actually think of all her songs, this one interestingly has the most "2NE1" feel. Not so much the video, but the song.
Minzy made two comebacks since this MV and they were both in 2021. Both those songs have a more latin inspiration (for some reason former girl group members go the Latin route when they pursue a solo singing career. Her latest comeback was in December.
