What is your favorite vocal tone in K-POP?

It’s Hyolyn for me.

Taeyeon easily

For girls I like Hwasa the most. For boys I would like Jimin and V with better vocal technique. I do not find JK's voice that special but I love the way he sings and how effortless he makes it. I liekd Exo's vocals but I don't follow them anymore because I did not like their songs. I'm sure they are still one of the bests of kpop vocals.

But I like the diversity of vocal tones the most. I began to listen to kpop because how many voices there are in a group and how much kpop songs play with that.

Rosé and Haechan.

Kang Min Kyung, Solji, Baek Ji Young

I have a weakness for voices with raw power so Solar and Swan when they use their powerful voice to its full potential, but unfortunately it remains quite rare

Otherwise I like a lot of female singers with a deep voice or on the contrary a very soft voice.

I tend to like unique-ish voices.

So all of Aespa but particularly Karina, Seulgi, Joy, Jennie, Minnie, Yuqi, Ahn Yujin, Sullyoon, Isa, Jiwon and Hayoung from Fromis9.

If I had to pick one it's a toss up between Karina or Seulgi.

*edit* for Boy groups - probably DO or NCT Jaehyun

Hard to choose just 1 but some of my faves are Jisoo, Rose, Ahyeon, Suelgi, Sana, and Lily. I really like Asa's tone as well but she hasnt done much singing yet.

I can name a lot of great vocalists in Kpop, but when it comes to Vocal Tones, I think they're my TOP5, probably.

I have two Queen on the #1 spot! Wheein and Hwasa! Everyone in Mamamoo has a distinct and recognizable voice, but they're my faves when it comes to vocal tones.

The #2 has to be the Empress of Kpop, BoA!

The #3 are King Taeyeon and Queen IU!

#5 - it was hard because I wanted to include my Mommy, Solar, but I think today, I'm going with Yuqi. I have a thing for deep tones and Mezzo Sopranos.

This is still my fave Yuqi song btw.

I thought about making a thread like this one but searched and saw it already exists.

I tend to like opposite voice colours in groups, so heavier and soft voices. My favourite tones are:

SNSD Taeyeon - SNSD Sunny

Twice Mina - Twice Jihyo

IVE Wonyoung - IVE Yujin (honourable mention Leeseo, who is no.3)

aespa Karina - aespa Winter (they all have beautiful tones, but these two are my fav)

RV Wendy

Soojin

I don't listen to boy groups a lot, but from a few I know my favourite voice colours are Super Junior's Kyuhyun, Stray Kids Felix and also Kang Daniel.

There may be more, but I don't know the members' names to know who is singing.

My favorite vocal tone is Jo Yuri

Some of the 4M new IG followers she got from Squid Game 2 will hopefully tune in for her comeback this year. I'm happy that she's already casted for a lead role in a new major drama but at the same time it's making me worried about idol Yuri being over.

Also like Liz vocal tone a lot

I listened to the first song and it's so beautiful! Her voice is really pretty and soothing. I somehow never listened to any of her songs but I need to check them out now.

I like iu's tone the most, it's hard to describe but it's like a mix of a beautiful siren voice and a lovely charming tone. it's warm but also sensual and adorable. it's also good at expressing deep emotions.

I think i love her loving you vocal performance the most alongside through the night and friday. her remake song by the stream is also magestic.

I would say that the only thing that she lacks to reach perfection is more emotional projection. There are other singer like Taeyeon and Yerin who are excellent at it. Taeyeon is actually a master at emotional singing. That's why her voice is my favorite even thought I find iu's tone more beautiful.

Nobody does it like her .

And last but not least, baek yerin has an terrifying voice. she is an expetional vocalist and has mastery in emotional delivery. her voice is also gorgeous and distinguishes itself with it's hypersensitivity.

I think somebody said this about Maria Calls, her voice wasn't the what was considered beautiful, but when she sang, she had the greatest thing a singer needs, a voice so unique that nobody can mistake it for anyone but Maria.

IU is like that, her singing voice is unique, unmistakable and there aren't any in Kpop with some fame, who is any similar to her, to be mistaken.

That indeed is more important, than great range etc.
