It's well documented that the facist dictatorship has been detaining tourists on the flimsiest of reasons, while countries are raising their travel warnings for their citizens visiting the US because of it.
Theres a reason why tourism and travel to the US is dropping, and it would make sense for kpop artists to also do so. It's increasingly unsafe.

I can’t believe popper is the one making the most sense in a thread…time to up and go.

One thing this entire thread has made clear is that y'all can't separate right from wrong. I never said KIOF didn't deserve the hate but that it was out of control which it is. If you can't understand something as simple as that, that's not really my problem and I am not going to waste any more time here.
Maybe I will come back to this thread at the end of the year. Let's see how the situation is then
This is just an excuse. For any issues haters will take the opportunity hate extra.

I'm just pointing out that it is a Trump-type response if you've been following the tariffs tit-for-tat strategy. It reeks of American exceptionalism.
I really haven't seen a change. I think Koreans flirt dangerously close to cultural appropriation/appreciation line especially when it involves things like dancing and music.
I think people are fooling themselves if they think otherwise. I think it is selective outrage.
That’s your problem. I certainly have.

I’ve never understood people who go ham for idols like their lives depended on it.
-
It will happen again. Companies will probably just have a different playbook to deal with the response.
Who are these Americans who were banned? I must have missed it. Seems like a lot of American exceptionalism being spread. Lot of 'Access to the American market is a privilege, not a right' type energy.
It isn't the end of the world losing the American market especially Kpop being such a niche market in the US.
This is not some all or nothing situation. So not sure what your response is supposed to mean.
I have absolutely seen a change in kpop from say 2015 and prior to now. Maybe you haven’t.
Exactly if you don’t mind losing the American market then fine. Leave it alone.

Of course some actions are worse than others lol.. But it's the same thing at the end of the day, racism. Are KIOF the first group or idols to be racist? No they aren't. Several idols have been racist before but they didn't receive even half of the hate KIOF got
Some are even repeat offenders but no. Y'all only care about morals when it comes to canceling a small group
No it’s not the same thing. Hope this helps. Again you’re not giving a single example. Stop wasting everyone’s time.

I’m so glad this person so completely lost the argument and has absolutely nothing relevant to say.
So much so they’re literally asking if some actions are worse than others. Like duh they are. How is that even a question.

Will they think twice? Seems like the ones that didn't apologize gets the least consequence.
In a perverse way, this just pushes idols and their companies to ignore the issue. What's the point of apologizing if it just magnifies the issue?
By not doing it in the first place. When you know the consequence is not being invited on American shows and concerts ofc you’ll think twice and the company will also invest in media training.
This is also true for Americans that have been banned from many countries. It’s nothing new.
-
They will start caring once they stop receiving that $$$ and thats why this was the correct consequence.
-
You don't get it, do you? Idgaf about them not performing at Kcon anymore. What angers me is the out of control hate that forced the organizers to make this decision.
I think they have done enough by apologizing twice. They have done more than the entire Kpop industry but if Black ppl don't want to forgive them that's totally fine with me but let's not act like that the outrage was coming from them and not from a loud minority on X aka ppl who never really cared about them and just want to see a rising group fail.
It’s not up to you to decide what’s enough. Hope this helps.
This was the correct thing to happen. Finally an actual real consequence. Now hopefully idols will think twice.

Why should it be of no concern to me when ppl have spent this month and the last bullying them? And it's because of this unreasonable hate that they pulled out from this event cuz ppl were sending them death threats. I hope you realize that this isn't okay. They don't need USA but that doesn't mean they shouldn't perform there at all even if the opportunity arises.
The organization pulling out is completely valid and the consequence for their action. If they cannot be sensitive towards the people of the country they don’t need to perform in that country. It’s simple.

It was a mistake and they got the well deserved backlash. BUT, I need y'all non-fans to stop acting like they have ruined their careers cuz they are still in demand in SK and that's not going to change.
Also internationally ≠ USA. KIOF still have their Thai fans and their Asian fans in general dgaf about this controversy. They will be fine.
If they’re so in demand in Korea then they don’t need USA so this decision and people commenting on it should be of no concern to you.

Actions have consequence
-
This was true for older groups. But female idols are very much able to build long lasting fandom now a days.
However for this to work though the groups need to appeal to the international audience. JYP had the right idea in that he doesn’t care if his groups appeal to the GP or Korea and yet all of them have extremely successful careers touring and being active.
