After rewatching the trailer, here's my 2cts on what to expectfrom "Girls Will Be Girls."
The trailer shows us throughout that the 4 girls try to make Ryujin's heart beat again through different situations: sport, fear, party, food, but they fail every time, until the very end of the video where the dance part occurs, Ryujin's heart flies away and she reappears in a ghostly/angelic form. When I first saw it, I had an impression of the atmosphere of this teaser, but I couldn't find the words to really express it. But I would now say that the director was very strongly inspired by an atmosphere quite similar to the series "Stranger Things".
I think this song will be a song with an instrumental heavily influenced by 80s songs and that it will deal with self-acceptance. I think the main theme is the existential crisis that teenagers and young adults go through at some point in their lives, illustrated here by Ryujin's heart that doesn't beat and the fact that nothing can make it beat. And the self-acceptance that appears at the end with her heart flying away as if the burden disappeared and we see at the end a rebirth where she appears radiant and exudes great confidence.
I think the title "girls will be girls" is simply a way of saying "you are who you are, don't be afraid to be yourself, enjoy life."
And that's why I'm thinking, among other things, of an instrumental inspired by the 80s, because this kind of theme was very present in this decade with music addressing these themes but with a positive note and catchy instrumentals seeking to give enthusiasm to the people who listen to it.
For example of song of this decade about this subject, there is this song used in the "karate kid" movie :

Okay, more seriously. I like that for once they're actually trying something. A 6-minute video is a great idea, it's a huge change from the band's usual promos. Ryujin's acting is very good, as is her narration. I don't know if she wants to try an acting career, but she really should try at least once.
As for the trailer itself, I really like the atmosphere. I don't want to jump to conclusions, but I hope that the excellent feedback received by "imaginary friend" has led to this kind of thing.
We're not safe from a very childish song about broken hearts, but the trailer really makes us want to believe it this time and to say that "imaginary friend" will have really marked an artistic turning point for the group.
