Bingle bangle was one of AOA's hit songs and their first cute song 6 years into their career it was extremely impressive. Then for the next comeback....they did a not cute concept? Why would you chance something that just started working for you?`

EXID did pretty good with Ah Yeah. It wasn't as big as Up&Down, but still a big hit that even beat EXO's Call Me Baby on music shows.

Honestly "Love Dive" and "After Like" were everything. Does that count?

Afterlike, Kitsch, I AM, I Want are literally all 9s and 10s after Love Dive. Just an amazing run of A list songs.

BP followed Whistle with Playing with Fire, then AIIYL. That's also an amazing run. D4 was followed by megabops KTL, HYLT, Lovesick Girls, then Ready for Love and Pink Venom, another epic run.

Twice is an obvious one. Releasing Cheer Up and surpassing it with TT seemed to cement their success for years after. TT blew them up in Japan. And this has pretty much set them up to continue successfully as a group for however long they feel like it. Other than that is IVE. Love Dive being the biggest song of the year was obviously hard to follow up. After Like was a great comeback though and it did extremely well and I think definitely solidified their place as digital queens. The famous sample was smart move and the chorus and its lyrics are so catchy. It was a great choice to go with a straightforward pop banger

i would say Cheer Up & TT, Love Dive & After Like too. They are the obvious choices

Maybe add attention/hype boy with OMG/DITTO too

and maybe Aoa's like a cat followed by Heart Attack. It was their best charting song by far

BTS have been doing this since they broke out with 'I Need U' in Korea and 'Dope' internationally. But what they did in 2016-17 is just iconic. 'Fire' followed by 'Blood, Sweat & Tears' followed by 'Spring Day' followed by 'DNA and then 'Mic Drop'. Did not just establish themselves as the top Korean act but actually broke out internationally. Their run before and after this was insane too but I think during these 2 years they just gave masterclass on how to keep the momentum going...

You got the biggest song ever at the time and then a break neck 180 in concept which not only gets incredible reception (including a lot of cosplay/pardories) but cements SNSD as THE group.

Blood Sweat and Tears was their breakout hit but they easily outdid themselves with Spring Day. Still one of their most beautiful songs

Girls Generation released their smash-hit "Gee" and then proceeded to release the best girl group song ever "Genie"

"Hoot", "Oh" and "Run Devil Run" were also big follow-ups that kept their momentum alive. The SM producers really had the formula down then

It was kinda risky because Alone is such a different song from Loving U, but that song literally created kpop summer anthems.

One song paved the way for sexy concepts, another for summer.

Twice of course did a lot of that.

The BTS climb from I Need U and the climb towards international superstardom was also iconic.

IVE and New Jeans are also on this path. What an amazing start to both of these groups.

i beg to differ. Not at you mentioning Momoland BB and Baam being "copies" but trying to play off Up&Down & Ah yeah as "didnt sound like copies"

Ah Yeah was basically a bland copy of Up & Down which resulted in people saying that they are repetitive. To add to that, Ah Yeah even having a similar line distribution - hanni, junghwa verses sandwiched with LE raps + solji & hyerin sings 1 line of each chorus + the hook/post chorus. If you say Pink Hot or LIE are different, at least those are more sensible...

After reading your comment I re-listened both songs (Up&Down and Ah Yeah) and I still stand by my opinion. Both songs share the same main producer and as you said, both songs share a similar line distribution If not the same. With that said, both of this songs have a very different tone: "Up&Down" seems more like a lighthearted dance song, so full of hooks that in hindsight everyone could understand that it would have become a viral hit. "Ah Yeah" sounds and feels way more "serious" - LE's rap sounds way more confrontational and that's because the lyrics tell the story of a woman being harassed, and that is also portrayed in the music video's visuals. The songs give very different vibes, at least to me.

Comparing this to Momoland: "Baam" doesn't only feel like a copy of their hit song only because of the sound of it,but also because the concept is the same. People got tierd of the group easily, while EXID managed to sustain their popularity a bit more because even If all their songs sound similar, they switched it up with the concepts a bit and so that similarity got precieved as them having a strong sound-identity. At least, that's my theory

Yeah, I would say the "So Cool" was their first big one and my favorite. But Alone was such a boring song if you compare them, don't understand why people like that song, even if today think the song is "okay".

Not exactly "hit" in terms of popularity but since the first very sucessfull ONF-MV they constantly got more views on each MV that came after that (except for My Name Is, who was a pre-release)

Alone was what made Sistar cement their place

After that they have been going alternate with mature/sexy (Give it to me, I Like That) and summer/sexy (Loving U, Touch my Body, Shake it) with subsequent releases.
