aespa cannot take advantage of the new rule, the new rules and removal of bundles hurts all of kpop. This just a tactic which fans can take advantage of to buy more albums to overcome the loss from the change.
Only one digital copy count for the charts
and I'm sure there is a limit for physical copies too, although I don't know how many

Confusing thread
Please write it again explaining how exactly Aespa can take advantage of the new rule

Wait until they see this chart. I was gona make a thread about it, but i was afraid it would cause so much commotion.

Are you even aware of what this mean? They only count the amount of a time the song chart in top 200.

Sometimes I think you only follow Blackpink dreaming with their numbers and then how to brag about them
And sometimes I'm sure you only follow Black because of that

that seems to be the biggest problem. how can a single playlist like melon top 100 have that much influence? they need another playlist. koreans are too chart obsessed they only click on melon top 100 as its easily accessible. and then they find this and complain. It's really weird how chart obsessed korea is. They are all doing the right thing moving to youtube and leaving melon.
They aren't chart obsessed, they are lazy and mostly use songs as background music to elevators and coffee shops without paying much attention to it

Anyway, stream

Bestie that was 2018 😭😭😭😭
It’s 2022 now
I'm still living in 2018 when EXO was active and promoting and I refuse to age until they are back

Lol why did you make this thread like this was brand new info lol SM has been using ads for the main acts for like 3 or 4 years now.
I'm an aged grey bearded SM groups fan, in my ancient times they didn't use ads
-
I think the number of likes can give an insight of how much streams it did on Spotify
Naeyeon made 20 million views, but have only 1.9 million likes, it made 1.4 filtered streams
Maybe Aespa has moved something in 0.5-0.6 range
-
I understand Spotify is not in China but Youtube isn't available either, so I guess is doesn't matter
Is such huge difference ads or mass streaming?
-
short answer: No
Long answer: Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Yes because the prices is what made K-pop sales increase 😂
Do you realize how many streams a group needs to even be near the amount of revenue a "cheap" album (let's say 7/8$) that sells like 500k units generates? Or are you conveniently overlooking the revenues of the big 3 for the last 2 years, with SM having 3 times more revenue than JYP and YG almost every damn quarter?
And no, I don't care about what your definition of real sales is whatsoever.
But he's right about one thing
The total amount of how many copies are being sold is a completely meaningles measure in economic terms, what matter is revenue, and is actually beyond that, whay truly matters is profit, but that's another topic. Take BTS, 1 purchase of their 60 USD album generates the same amount of revenue of six 10 USD albums, the more willing a company is to severely restrict their profits the most sales they can farm and this give me very Nmixx debut single vibes, so here is the first point
The second point is fans willing to buy non ship back albums are truly the ultimate God blessing for companies, because companies never profited from delivery the album. When fans actually wanted to collect albums, they used to buy just as much as they could afford shipping fees included, which more than often were two to three times the album price. Now instead of buying 2 albums + fees the same fan can buy 6 or even 7 albums, and get none but whatever, the company is still getting their money and the fans get hot Hanteo numbers to brag about on Twitter, it make me shake my head in disbelief about how weird it is, but I digress
It's unfortunate IFPI stopped their breakdown of how much revenue the top 10 markets are making in revenue, as I strongly suspect Korean industry actually stopped growing by 2020 and and 2021 and 2022 numbers are nothing but companies deploying strategies to increase sales without increasing revenue, but alas I can't prove that so you don't need to believe me.

Actually the part i dont get is why Spotify is worshipped but Youtube is downplayed. I mean, at first i thought it was because YT was free but then doesnt Spotify also have free service with ads or some shit like that? And then i thought because you can buy views with ads on YT but cant you also buy playlisting on Spotify?
YT Music and regular YT are perfect for me, their algorithms are top notch. Which is why i dont get the Spotify worship among chart watchers. Spotify might have 180 million users but doesnt YT have like 2 billion?? Isnt YT a far better metric to determine popularity?
Because Spotify has a filter system, while YouTube don't. That's how the same group can debut with 40 million streams on Youtube yet barely 1 million on Spotify.
And of course, ads. This largely distorts the meaning of YouTube numbers, whereas Spotify numbers are a somewhat accurate measure of their popularity

Both Brand Reputation and Google searches are irrelevant

Some stage names are crappy, so Id rather say their real names

This is what jpop fans and Japanese people don’t understand. Even America with the largest music and film industry has been exporting their soft power for decades despite being able to support themselves lmfao. This is why the Japanese film/drama and music industry is collapsing on itself. They were told years ago to stop being so prideful with making money only in the domestic market, but to eventually expand out as there are overseas fans waiting to consume content and their birth rates aren’t looking so hot right now which means the economy is in jeopardy. I understand the concept of wanting to cater and make things for them and by them, but that’s not reality right now. Nobody but to blame but themselves at this point if they get to the point of no return. Let this be a wake up call to them
Exactly
I'll be personally pleased to see their market collapsing. It won't happen overnight because they have a fairly big and wealth population, but will happen eventually, good riddance
