the fact that bp has the biggest fanbase by a long shot and the most casual fans contradict your point.
In which way those facts contradict my point ?

Blackpink music being well liked among the whole kpop community is a missconception on itself
Blackpink is huge because they turned non kpop fans into Blackpink fans
Keyword here is BLACKPINK fans, not KPOP fans. Among the existing kpop fandoms BP music was always divisive at best
The reason why newly found kpop fans like Blackpink however is the same as why 3rd gen kpop fans like Bigbang, both groups were already iconic and have a clear signature sound and image that is heavily associated with them. People are more likely to appreciate an artist that already have legendary stats
Other groups following their style are bound to be seem as reductive versions of Blackpink. If Blackpink had disappeared from kpop mindshare Baemon would have slightly better chances to hit, but the fact is Blackpink is still easily the biggest kpop girlgroup in collective consciousness

I'm pretty sure JYP always got rejects Minion, nothing will change much for them
YG got the idols that have... "unconventional" looks, voice tones and style. Unless Hybe is suddenly desperate to find the 17269263829 G Dragon version (which I'm pretty sure they aren't) YG can keep them
SM is the one who is the most fucked, they used to be far and away the number 1 company for anybody who wanted to be idols. Specially on international side. It's hard to find any mid tier 3rd gen group who don't have at least one or two members who used to be SM trainees. Now they no longer will have this privilege

2018 was the best year for third generation girl groups, rivaled only by 2016.
Huh?
Which is sintomatic because a year like 2018 would be just an standard year for idol groups during 2nd gen. You just need to take a look in any 2nd gen yearly end chart and look for idol groups used to fare much better
And that's of course beyond the point. When I say GGs are atucked you can read as "their market is not growing". From 2014 to 2017 GGs were close to irrelevant in any market besides Korea. They lost Japan, China and even their popularity in SEA collapsed compared to 2nd gen. Twice reopened Japan, and Blackpink reopened the rest of Asia as well as West, but by the time it finally happens it was already over for other girlgroups except Red Velvet

When I joined kpop (2016) I immediately realized 3rd gen GGs were legging behind 2nd gen GGs in some ways
BGs were clearly growing but GGs looked stucked. I started seeing it changing around 2018 but it was too late for most of 3rd gen GGs except the Big 3
I think this happened because 3rd gen GGs were all released used 2nd gen as blueprint and Korea itself was already over and saturated of 2nd gen GGs
4th gen was formulated with international audiences in mind and it worked perfectly because it injected a breath of fresh air in the market that even koreans liked

Everything about Ive is generic. Generic pop songs, generic MVs, generic choreographys, generic promotions.

honestly I'm not a big fan of the rollout either. I was expecting an album at the middle of the year. What I liked about them the most is how much content (MVs, performances, etc) they have each comeback, a digital single with a CF b-side won't do it for me
The way they are planning things I think they expect fans to see and treat this Japanese debut as a traditional comeback. They way they worded make me feel they plan widespread distribution for fans outside Japan
This also means they probably are expecting the main comeback to take place only in then late half of the year. Close to awards and shows and such which is also not my favorite date to comeback but I digress

Looks like another one of OP's passive aggressive threads got caught with its pants down lol. Notice how he never said anything about Drama underperforming even though it got beat by LSRFM and ended up with only 220k peak ULs.

But yeah Aespa is like the 5th biggest GG in Korea right now. LSRF and G Idle are without a doubt above Aespa
