On this series we remember songs that have been forgotten or were never even given the attention they deserved. Today's Hidden Gem is I Think I Love U by Sonamoo
Sonamoo, a name we've all heard of but only a few actually stanned. Before Blackpink, Sonamoo was the only group doing the girl crush concept at the time. From 2014-mid 2016 cute was IN. So Sonamoo never stood out in Korea and the had a small international fandom. In mid 2016 they decided to switch to a cute concept. Well the i-fans hated it and they didn't stand out among Gfriend, Twice, Red Velvet, Apink, and IOI. So they were on a downwrd trend when they made this comeback. It isn't my favorite Sonamoo song ever, but it's cute and catchy. Also probably one of Sonamoo's best music videos. They are also often forgotten as some of the best dancers ever in Kpop.
Sonamoo went on to make two more comebacks this year before going on forever hiatus. Euijin competed on The Unit and actually got first place! Sadly the show flopped and Uni.T didn't do so well either. Sonamoo just had the worst timing ever. Even their name, Sonamoo, sounded like the new popular Mamamoo, and people said they were copying them. TS was at one point a powerhouse company with Secret, a top tier girl group, and BAP who was competing with EXO and was actually more popular than them. After BAP's lawsuit it was all downhill from there and unfortunately Sonamoo debuted after the lawsuit so their career was also just downhill. Concepts were promoted at the wrong time, fierce competition whenever they made a comeback, it's too bad. 6 of the 7 members officially left TS. Two members sued the label and I think they won. NewSun has been releasing indie music. Euijin signed to a new label and will be making her solo debut soon! TS has also allegedly shut down. Goodbye and good riddance.
