This is the ranking of the girl groups with the most self-composed songs.

By that I mean songs where a member has a composing/music credit (not just a lyrics credit). Which means they created / helped create the melody of the song.

What do you think about this ranking ? Does it surprise you ?

I'm surprised at how so few girl group members compose songs.

(G)I-dle is a huge anomaly (along with Pristin but they were so short-lived) because 90% of their songs are composed by a member. Exid are not too far behind but it's because Le is S.Tiger's co producer.

I was expecting 2nd gen groups to have more credits (especially groups like snsd and 2ne1).

I'm surprised by Wonder Girls tho, didn't expect them to be higher than Exid. Reboot album helped them a lot (a great album btw)

SNSD members did great on the lyrics on Holiday Night tho, just no music credit from the members

She composed songs for her solos but I didn't find a song she composed for Brown Eyed Girls. She wrote a lot of lyrics tho (and a lot of iconic raps like the Sixth Sense one)

This is one of the things I'm the most sad about in Kpop. We were robbed from having the most self composed girl group in Kpop ever. Like look at these tracklists. Every track has one or several members in the composition, and others in the lyrics too. Only (G)I-dle have similar tracklists

And I think also one of the reasons why Sistar disbanded was because of the restrictions back then as well as Hyolyn might have wanted more creative input.

It's possible, considering how Hyolyn is her own boss now. She was in total control of 'Ice' as the executive producer and is credited on the lyrics and composition of every track (I really loved Laying Low and Over You)

I didn't find any composing credits for the 2ne1 members post disbandment tho. CL does write her lyrics ofcourse

(G)I-dle Soyeon composed 11 (G)I-dle title tracks (all of them)

Exid Le is in the composition for 11/13 Exid title tracks (all except the first two)

Pristin Sungyeon is in the composition of Pristin's 2 existing title tracks

Mamamoo Hwasa helped to compose Hip and Moonbyul helped to compose Aya

Purple Kiss Goeun and Swan helped to compose Ponzona

Kiss Of Life Natty and Belle are credited on the composition of Shhh

Laboum Soyeon is credited on the composition of Between Us (amazing song)

Wonder Girls Hyerim, Yubin and Sunmi wrote and composed Why so Lonely (their last title track) and even played the instruments in the recording of the song.

Dalshabet Subin is credit on Joker.

Lastly Blackpink Jennie is credited on the composition of Lovesick Girls

As far as I'm aware, every other credit is for a bside

Danielle's role is TA which means she participated on the lyrics only, just like Gigi and Kim Dong Hyun, all three are not credited on the composition. This is the same credits on their lyrics book in their album, on Melon (https://www.melon.com/song/lyrics.htm?songId=36599950)

The only time I've seen her being credited as a composer is in the screen you sent me, and I don't know the source of it. She is really talented anyways and seems to be really interested in creating songs, but she doesn't have a composing credit on Super Shy according to every sources I could find

For Kiof Belle, if it's based on Komca then her composing credits is 3 songs.

For the group's overall, there are 4 songs which the member had a composing credit after their name.

On their debut album, julie and haneul had credits for their group's bside meanwhile belle and natty is on their title track.

Right I put 2 instead of 3 for Belle. It doesn't change the total number of songs for Kiof tho (4).

Yes it's cool how Purple Kiss have many composing credits ! (Tho I'm kinda sad that Into Violet was pretty much their peak in terms of credits, nowadays it's just like 1 Chaein song per release (which is already great))

Chaein really has a special recognizable sound and I love her songs

Yeah I only counted group songs. If we count solo stuff then Mamamoo would be much higher because Solar, Hwasa and Moonbyul are really involved in the composition of their solo songs. So much talent in this group
