Hidden Gems #99: Babomba by BADKIZ

On this series we remember songs that have been forgotten or were never even given the attention they deserved. Today's Hidden Gem is Babomba by BADKIZ

It would be criminal of me not to include BADKIZ before getting to #100. BADKIZ was my favorite underrated group for the longest time. This song I think will always be my favorite by them. The video is hilarious; show those pervy men! The song was actually composed by Shinsadong Tiger, that's a pretty big name in the industry.

So BADKIZ was notorious for having many lineup changes. After Babomba they completely revamped except for Monika. Fun fact, one of the members makes a pre-debut appearance in Babomba's MV before she debuted with the team. They had a concept change after this, where they did the sexy concept and heavily relied on the saxophone. Ironically when the group changed their name, to Hot Place, it had the most OG BADKIZ sound. Monika is still promoting as a solo artist. She has a makestar project right now and needs your support! Jina debuted as a trot singer a few years ago. Another member re-debuted in Pitapat, but they shortly disbanded without even making a comeback. The team disbanded last year, so they actually lasted a long time and had over 16 former members!

yes! See BADKIZ are kinda strange because they're nugu but a lot of their dances go viral. Often times covers of their songs end up getting WAY more views than the MV which is weird. Their international fandom is basically nonexistant because I think a lot of their fans come from busking. So when they couldn't do that anymore because of COVID, that killed the group.

Ear Attack went lowkey viral, it probably could have been the next Bar Bar Bar. Sadly, it was released around the time of the Sewol Ferry accident so the entire country was in mourning, not really the time to do a funny viral dance.
