The expert judging panel consists of 50 experts, including industry officials, music reporters, music program producers, popular music critics, domestic distribution companies, and Golden Disc Awards executive committee members.

The executive committee deliberates on the fairness of candidate selection and screening criteria, the appropriateness of the award category, and the suitability of the evaluation criteria.

Rookie of the Year category

Individuals/teams who debuted during the screening period are selected according to the same screening criteria as the main prize.

We do not share the Rookie of the Year award for music and albums.

30% of music usage and album sales are each reflected, and the quantitative evaluation is 60%.

Individuals/teams that lead genre trends and have achieved musical achievements are selected through the executive committee review

Popularity Award

Selected by reflecting 100% of the fan voting results conducted by the popular voting system

Judging criteria:

The judging target is music and albums released from November 2020 to mid-November 2021.

Songs and albums excluded from the nominations due to overlapping with the previous year's counting deadline will be included in the evaluation.

The sales volume counting period to select the winners is until mid-December 2021.

If there are multiple sound sources or albums released by an artist, the representative sound source or representative album with the highest sales in each category is selected as a nominee.

The album category is the grand prize for albums containing more than 6 new songs excluding different versions of the same album as the intro, outro, and instrumental tracks. (no single albums like Lalisa or Butter are counted)

A single album has the same main song composition (track), has the same release date, and is limited to albums produced and distributed in Korea.

Even in the case of a different language version, if this standard is met, it is judged as a single album and added to the total sales.

Repackaged albums are considered as separate single albums and judged using the same criteria as other albums. (Repacks are not counted with the original release).

The Special Award and Rookie of the Year categories include digital singles, mini-albums with 6 or fewer new songs, and albums.

Songs and albums released as part of projects such as drama/movie O.S.T, entertainment shows, and advertisements are excluded from the nominations for this award.
