OMEGA X (Korean: 오메가엑스, Japanese: オメガエックス; also stylized as ΩX) is an 11-member boy group under IPQ. They debuted on June 30, 2021 with their first mini album Vamos.

OMEGA X Group Name Meaning:

OMEGA X, comes from the Greek alphabet Omega, which means ‘the end’ or ‘final’, and holds

the meaning that the group intends on being the ‘final boss’ in the K-Pop industry.

Fandom Name: FOR X /프엑기

* Note: In Korean, it is “poaegi” which translates to “for baby”. The 2 syllables for ‘X’ were swapped for the 2 similar sounding syllables for ‘baby’ as a cute play on words. The members often combine the two in English, saying “FOR X baby/babies”.

II. History:

History

2021: Debut with Vamos, "What's Going On", fandom name

On March 2, 2021, SPIRE Entertainment released a silhouette teaser of the members with the words "your boys have come back 2021". The group was revealed to have included former survival program contestants and current boy group members. On March 15, OMEGA X teased their upcoming debut. Described as the "Kpop Avengers", it was told that the trailer videos of each member will be released sequentially for two weeks beginning on March 15

On March 26, the members were officially revealed through the final and 12th debut trailer.

On June 5, they announced their first mini album Vamos, released on June 30.

On August 18, they announced their first comeback with the single album "What's Goin' On", released on September 6

On September 5, they revealed their fandom name, "FOR X", short for "Forever with OMEGA X".

2022: Love Me Like, Story Written in Music, Japanese debut, Connect :Don't give up, "Love Me Like (Eng Ver.)", Jamboree Anthem Korea, lawsuit against SPIRE Entertainment

On December 17, 2021, they announced their second mini album Love Me Like, released on January 5.

On May 9, 2022, their agency confirmed that OMEGA X would make a comeback with a new album in June. On May 31, OMEGA X revealed the first teasers for their first studio album, Story Written in Music, which was released on June 15.

On June 10, it was announced that OMEGA X would make their Japanese debut with the mini album Stand Up! on August 24. They also announced their OMEGA X Japan 1st Tour "Stand up!".

On June 15, it was announced, during the SHOW-CON of the first studio album Story Written in Music, that Jaehan is the official leader of the group, or rather the eldest, with also the comments of teammates saying that he has always led the whole group and given a strong support.

On July 24, OMEGA X announced their 2022 OMEGA X World Tour [Connect :Don't give up] which will take place in America in September and October 2022. They later revealed the first five dates for the Latin American leg, starting with Guadalajara on September 16.

The group released their first English special single, "Love Me Like (Eng Ver.)", on September 30.

On October 13, they released the theme song for the 25th World Scout Jamboree, Jamboree Anthem Korea.

On October 23, several OMEGA X fans claimed that the group was verbally and physically abused multiple times during their 2022 OMEGA X World Tour 'Connect :Don't Give Up'. On November 6, the OMEGA X's members opened a new Instagram account, unaffiliated with their agency, thanking their fans for their support. They also explained that it took them time to speak up as they had to be cautious after their agency made them sign an agreement "under pressure" stating that they would have to take "civil and criminal legal responsibility" if they posted on social media without the agency's permission. During a press conference held on November 16 with their legal representatives, the OMEGA X members claimed that they were verbally and physically abused and sexually harassed. The group will be pressing charges against former CEO Kang and CEO Hwang and announced the termination of their contract with SPIRE Entertainment. The group plans to stay together and keeps being active. They also applied for the trademark of "OMEGA X", "오메가엑스", "FOR X" as well as "PROTECT OMEGA X" through their law firm. Following the press conference, SKIYAKI, who holds the license for OMEGA X's activities in Japan, has decided to terminate their exclusive contract with SPIRE due to serious compliance violation from the agency. A few days later, on November 22, SKIYAKI announced the closure of the Japanese website, fanclub and SNS accounts on November 30.

On December 2, Sports Kyunghyang revealed that SPIRE Entertainment unilaterally changed the OMEGA X members' passwords to access their official fancafe. It was reported that the accounts used by the members on the fancafe are also their personal accounts, thus making them unable to access their own accounts. The agency responded that it was due to a change in the staff member and was only a temporary measure for security purpose. They claimed that each member has since then been issued a new password and are now able to access the fancafe.

On January 11, 2023, it was announced that OMEGA X had won their lawsuit to suspend the validity of their exclusive contracts. In an article with the Korean news outlet Star News, it was revealed that the group is looking for a new agency and is preparing for a civil lawsuit regarding damages owed to the members.

2023: "Dream", new agency

On February 10, 2023, it was announced that OMEGA X would be performing a special stage at the 30th Hanteo Music Awards the following day as their first schedule since they won their lawsuit. The group also stated that they are preparing for a comeback. At the awards show, the group performed their new song "Dream," which was composed by Hangyeom and choreographed by Hangyeom and Junghoon.

On February 16, it was announced that the group will be hosting a radio show on FLO radio starting from March 1.

On February 23, JTBC revealed that the group has been working in a self-sufficient way with a manager using their own money due to an unfinished legal dispute. The group plans to create their own agency using investment when the legal dispute is over.

On April 23, OMEGA X announced the release of their first digital single "Dream", which was released the following day.

On May 8, OMEGA X announced on their Instagram post that, after deep discussion with SPIRE Entertainment, both mutually agreed to end their exclusive contract and all other disputes. It was later confirmed that the group now own the copyrights related to their activities, and future SNS accounts including the fancafe will be owned and managed by OMEGA X.

On June 19, OMEGA X announced that they will be holding a fanmeeting for their previous album, which was previously cancelled, ahead of their new start.

On July 3, IPQ announced that they signed an exclusive contract with OMEGA X as their first artist. The group opened a new Japanese Twitter account and announced the launch of their new Japanese website later that day. On July 7, they unveiled their new logo.
