In a phone call with Star News on April 17, Kim Soohyun's legal representative clarified that the total of 38,299,500 won in recognition and service fees had already been paid in full without issue. He explained, “The extension request we submitted was a standard procedure related to verifying the defendants’ addresses. In particular, for the defendant referred to as the ‘fake aunt,’ it has been extremely difficult to confirm not just her address but even her name.”
The representative added, “As long as we can confirm at least one of the following: the defendant’s name, contact information, or resident registration number, it won't be a problem. If we get a phone number, we can check with the telecom provider; if we get a registration number, we can pull an official record to verify it.”
He continued, “In the case of the individual being called the ‘fake aunt,’ none of the three identifiers have been confirmed yet, but eventually they will be, because she’s also being criminally investigated as a defendant. The investigative authorities that received the complaint will naturally verify her personal information. That said, from our side, we’d like to confirm this faster, and we’re actively looking into ways to do so.”
