im not defending cube but .. their hatred for the company was so loud and obvious that even non fans know about it. and that might sound harsh but it just makes them look like fools and some kind of hypocrites to be honest
So GIDLE spent the last 2 years dissing & hating on CUBE just for them to all renew ?

I'm just gonna...

Kpop fans brains are so fried they think criticism is the same as hatred

They probably got some really good contract renewal terms

They should have done, what? Left their company that gives them creative freedom and go to some broke company that can't even manage a group of their stature. Yeah, that's stupid especially when they're still at their peak.
They obviously negotiated a very good deal and kept the group alive. Soyeon just proved to us she is as smart as she looks.

I think they didn't get a better deal from any other company so even though bad, still better to stay in a company where you already know how to deal with and have the freedom to do as you want.
They are still extremely popular, sells a lot, tour well, charts well, they have everything to keep going as a group.

They took the Trump negotiating tactics.

this thread tastes very briny

This is literally the same thing what happened with MAMAMOO! All of them signed with RLazy again, because they don't have another option.
People thought, just because Soyeon is the main producer, she owns everything. I'm pretty sure she doesn't own the Gidle brand, just the songs she produced. So, IF they want to leave, they will when the name rights are expired. I didn't like this, but it's not like she can start her own company and the next day, Gidle will continue like nothing happened. That's why Mamamoo didn't leave either. I would bet my house they're just waiting for the right moment. Also, it's clear and obvious they got a good deal, because if Soyeon leaves, Gidle is finished. The contracts of the others didn't expire yet.
After 6-7 years, groups don't have to sign for 7 years again, they can get a 2 or even a 1-year-long contract as well!
-
soyeon sacrificed herself to keep the group alive.
Pretty much, yeah!
-
Maybe it's just for the group but individual contracts are somewhere else

I just saw the news and it is a bit surprising, considering everything. I know they've been complaining and have been mistreated for a long time, so I guess they were just able to negotiate better contracts this time and decided to stay after all. Soyeon complaining so loudly and being so vocal about her possibly leaving might have given her even more leverage, who knows.
I can only think that maybe Cube really gave them some big benefits to keep them, so that it overweighed the bad things. That, and what the other users said - it could possibly be hard to move to another company (probably impossible to do it and be able to still perform all of their songs).
-
I have always felt them dissing Cube was an inside joke to stir things up. Cube was always their best option if you wanted them to remain as a group. It would be tough to rebrand since they don’t own their name . 4/5 members could go solo, but they’re better off staying with cube who owns the brand and negotiate terms in deal for solo endeavours
What I don’t like is Soyeon mentioning Soojin the way she did because it brought unnecessary drama for all. Other than that I am happy we get to hear them as a group and we need a Minnie solo asap
-
I love Soyeon.......but ur not wrong. lol
-
Cube needs G idle more than G idle needs Cube. If they left Cube, they would have a harder time restarting but they definitely would of succeeded no matter where ( I'm looking to QWER! which Soyeon produced for!) but with out G idle, cube is done. Cube had to give in to whatever demands that Soyeon wanted at this point. Buy some CUbe stocks now, cus its gonna rise.

No, but realistically it is hard to move labels, just because few groups did it, doesn't mean it is easy. These idols maybe can produce and perform but running a company or moving to new company is not easy, at all.

And pretty much all of them lost their star power after they left their original company. CUBE may be a crap agency, but they give freedom to their artists and money. The members would lose a LOT of money if they start their own agency, and if they sign with another one, it doesn't mean they will be just as successful. It's not like they leave CUBE and SME, JYP or YG will sign them. They're a 6-year-old group, after 2-3 years their popularity will start to fade away just like with very other groups. They need to earn a LOT of money till they can. They're in their peak now.
-
Soyeon shouldn't have talked so much if she wasn't going to walk the walk. Yes, staying with Cube was their best (probably only) option for remaining together as a group, but we don't know the terms of their contracts, so it's merely speculation that Soyeon talking so much trash actually benefited her or the other members in any way. For all we know she got the exact same terms as before... or worse. Maybe it was all just an in-joke. I tend to think they were being serious but greatly overestimated the options they would have.
-
Them re-signing doesn’t surprise me, and I’m really glad they did as it means we’ll get more music from them next year as a group and probably another world tour at some stage. Starting your own agency is always risky there are a lot of upfront costs and when you’re a girl group in your seventh year, there’s no guarantee you’ll make the money back. Whereas staying with an existing agency is much lower risk.
I’m sure they bargained hard for a good deal, with a bigger share of the profits and more freedom. We also don’t know if they only renewed their group contracts, some of the members may want to take charge of their own solo activities, we’ll have to see.

Maybe they are just older and wiser than..... you know... NJ?
Another day another non sense.

Soyeon shouldn't have talked so much if she wasn't going to walk the walk.
I want someone to show me where Soyeon says "I'm definitely leaving cube".
People keep going on about how she's contradicted herself? Where?
All she's talked about is the contract being up. Which is definitely something they wanted - as that means a better payday for everything they do. They're still on their original pre debut 7 year contract. Hell yeah she'd be chomping at the bit to renegotiate and get a big % increase.
So please, tell me where Soyeon said "I am leaving Cube 100% no cap". Because you can't.
