The hybe effect on lesserafim is crazy because people talk about them like they are the second coming of jesus when besides having a big hit with antifragile last year they have not achieved anything groundbreaking, they have big potential but people hype them NOW beyond what they really are. Aespa had the weakest year, sm fucked up so bad that unless they pull a miracle they may not rise again, the tendency is to decline.

and even if perfect night is doing well currently, Drama is still just behind PN so the difference in charting isn't really big between both songs
especially on youtube Korea where the #1 on daily keep changing between PN and Drama

However, Ssera has a hit B side (Eve) + currently a #1 song Perfect Night. When we look at year 2023 as a whole, Ssera clearly did better than both aespa and GIDLE

Aespa at much much better position than ITZY in every single way. They're fine. By them putting out song like Drama and can still comfortably chart at top 3 + continue to break their own record for spotify, they're entirely fine
ITZY has more to worry about. Whatever concept they're trying now is not sticking to the GP.
It is simple. No experimental music. Pre-Spicy, please said they were done, thats because they were releasing experimental music. Sure their core fans love experimental, but not the general public. Next Level was an outlier. They just need to release a song that is a normal song, like Spicy.

Le Sserafim songs generally stay on the charts for a long time. And Le Sserafim's bside songs always were in the top 10 on the Melon. No matter how much they promote, not not every bside can get on the chart. It's very impressive the stability of Le Sserafim. I think the songs after Perfect Night will definitely be hits. I hope they prepared good songs next year. They can capitalize on Perfect Night's hype.

Queencard was one of most popular songs this year tho, both in korean and internationally, internationally did better than any individual LSRF and aespa songs, in korea did much better than any of LSRF or aespa comebacks during same time, even rigth now look at melon chart and see which one of the april/may songs are higher on chart, even on Gallup was 3rd place (after Seven and one newjeans song)
They did great this year with their consistent hit such as EPBB, Unforgiven and Perfect night

That's why I mentioned that I am disappointed that they have been rewarded for their shift to releasing trashy songs.
They used to release songs of such beauty and meaning as Hwaa, and even when they released songs that weren't shooting for the moon, they were generally always of a certain standard, and didn't trade on crass vulgarity and celebrity trash culture.
They were well regarded and had good but modest tier success while maintaining a respectable and high quality output that made (G)I-DLE one of the most interesting kpop groups who were doing some of the best work in contemporary kpop.
It gave them a certain prestige.
At which point, CUBE and presumably Soyeon, decides to just throw all that well-earned cache away.... and go and release.... "my butt and booty" songs.
And the public rewarded them for it... By making such tripe into smash hits, and giving them the most success and popularity they've ever had.
Yes, they have achieved top tier success recently. But they had to downgrade to do it.
I think they lost something very valuable and special in that process.
They abandoned the standard of excellence they had previously held themselves to, and in particular, they've blemished the legacy and ethos they had built up in the period leading up to and culminating with their magnum opus, Hwaa.
It's greatly disappointing in my opinion.
(G)I-DLE had a certain magic. And they threw it away.

What the hell dude, you sound like a taliban.
Queencard is a great song, infectious like no other. It expands the things they can do and remains consistent with what they did before (especially Tomboy and Nxde which together form some kind of trilogy). They're not tarnishing their legacy, they're building it. You never know know what will come next, and that's the magic of GIDLE.
Drama was a better comeback either way, so in my book, Aespa is the winner
