One of the dumbest takes I have heard in recent years is that the Contestant who was BY FAR the most popular contestant on a popularity contest show, didn't deserve her place in the final lineup

I am just shocked she was only 2nd on the voting given all we have seen since, and I suspect there was some manipulation at play from Mnet who didn't want her as the center

Is she the most popular? I heard from someone that 50% sales were due to Xiaoting's fans?

Wouldn’t that only happen if she was big in Korea… is she actually big in Korea? More fancam views doesn’t mean that much in the long run.

A member who has an admittedly huge fanbase, but isn't anymore the focal point of the group than any other. At least in terms of the production of the group, their releases and the fanbase of the group as a whole.

For her to be the focal point of the group, it would have to come from the company and the group's fans.

Most of the discussions related to her are driven by negative mindset which do make you known but not popular. There is a reason why broader kpop related discussions are always about negative topics. Even on akp, people who are in her threads never actually talk about Kep1er as a whole.

There are multiple members who are preferred over her by the actual group's fans. Her solo stans are doing their thing. But they are not gonna affect Kep1er in any way as we have seen before in kpop with many artist's solo stans.

You are saying this based of fancam views which is a wrong way to see it, some people stream more than others, her fans also want to prove something. I don't think the fanbase disparcy is big, she's one of least popular in kpop biggest markets too (Korea, China and Japan)

I feel we are jumping too fast to conclusions. They have just debuted and have much more to improve and show. We should give them some time.

She barely has any lines or stage presence, it could be Bahi and friends for her brother's fans but not for everyone else

it hasn't even been a week since their debut..

She's controversial, that's why,but that doesn't make her a top member who gets attention for standing out positively like wonyoung was in izone or Somi in IOI. As non-fan the one I actually see on my tl being talked about is Xiaoting, she's praised and got the attention from non-fans.

For example Karina and winter have always 2/3M views in their fancams while the gap between them and NN and Giselle is huge but no one say it’s Karina winter and friends.

After all the drama I thought everyone knew Bahi was huge. Why people are shocked doesn’t mean she is fan-favorite Bahi has a huge fandom but the main attractor is Xiaoting, even non-fans like her.

Some here said that fancam views mean nothing and that her fans are just good at streaming. But there is one thing, the no. of likes also differ a lot. She has the double amount of likes that the whole group fancam had at the same amount of views. She has around 160k likes which is not far from the literal debut show(not fancam) which is at around 200k.

I don't know what the likes actually show but just want to put it out here.

Right now about 1.2m while the closest to her Xioting is at around 400k. The gap is more or less the same in the other too although the views are still lesser.

Yeah not just the views but also no. of likes. Xioting has around 46k likes with around 430k views while bahiyyih has around 165k with 1.2m views.

I’m not a fan and I like Bahi.

Mainly bc people were (still are?) so mean to her. I also like her personality - like she just sticks with it regardless of haters. Also she is 17! Let her live!

She has a distinctive look and I remember her and single her out in the group.

The rest looks the same to me.

But in Korea Japan and China she is like 5th -6th in fandom size in most cases so no it’s not a miss a situation . If her getting more fancam views than your face equals the group being all about her then..

but she's probably the most recognisable member aside from Xiaoting right now, cause of all the hate she gets and discussions on her skills/visuals/personality/relations etc lol

I can see Yeseo shooting up in popularity if she gets more focus on her visuals, pretty maknaes tend to be popular. Xiaoting is always going to be super popular too. I think the fanbases might even out, if Kep1er becomes more popular - if they don't add to the pre-debut fanbase, not much will change.

sorry to burst your bubble but aespa is really just winter and karina. On my tl, all i see is people want to sell / trade giselle and ningning photocards for karina and winter. Price of Giselle's pc is like 1/5 of winter's. That discrepancies is the craziest I've ever seen

Also another thing is that from my observation of youtube comments and from other places, her fandom seems to be too detached from the main fandom because of all the hate thrown at her.

I only know suzy from Miss A, Hyuna from 4minutes(maybe a little bit of jiyoon), Hani from Exid, and the only members i am familiar with aespa are karina and winter because people mentioned them mostly, so isn't this kinda the OP point.

xiaoting doesnt have that star power, it girl like bahiyiih does. wakeone just uses xiaoting as a money grab for china, so they give her more screen time and "center parts" to please the angry cfans who got upset from their fav c-trainees getting eliminated. bahiyyih is the stan attractor of the group, and gets praised by non fans, that's why her fancam views are at 1M bc so many non kep1ians are checking for her.

I think this is a better metric then views, likes show fan engagement.

NI-KI usually has 3/4 times as much views as the other members from enhypen, but he's isn't that much more popular than other members. enhypen members are still very balanced if it comes to popularity

THIS! This right here is why there is a big divide among solo fans. Many baihiyyh fans dislike kep1ers fans for the way they have treated her during the show and nowadays. Many dont consider themselves fans of the group and are set on making her standout/have the best solo engagements - her screen time at debut just cemented their resentment. If kep1er fans dont get their sh*t together this is going to get worse and end up a bigger issue then Sakuras japanese solos

Being the most popular in the group doesn't necessarily mean that.

ifans are underestimating Chaehyun's popularity in Korea. She's not 'it-girl' level popular but despite GP999 being hated by Koreans she's getting increased attention

Also Youtube doesn't show the popularity of members in China
