JYPE is planning to remove CD, lyrics books etc from albums and leave only photocards

I agree with lyrics albums they’re useless since they’re written in korean but I want a photobook idc

They're joining the WeVerse/Platform albums

so just a digital album and the photocards and photoboook sounds good hoppe the other companies do that too

This is a good step in the right direction.

Hopefully they still have the photobooks though. Those are my favorite part.

Finally. Giving fans what they actually want. But I'm sad since I like actual physicals and don't care about photocards.

If they want to be ESG friendly, they should release light version with SAME photocards as the regular version (with CD). The fact that they release regular version, jewel case, light ver, special versions with DIFFERENT photocards, they are inducing fans to bulk buy all different versions. If they release same photocards, then fans who want photocards only will go for light ver/jewel case and album collectors will go for full.

The fact that they didnt do this mean they were aiming for sales boost fron different versions with different photocards

They better not stop making physical albums altogether. Me and a lot of fans love the physical aspect of the albums

Oh another company enacting this type of action! I was trying to explain the corporate sustainability and ESG commitments being enacted (in a thread about j-hope’s JITB not having a physical) and some ppl thought I was a company stan (not). I was just stating that companies will have to start and in a way, it is good re reduction of mass consumption and waste. I hope the companies will be transparent and do it well.

I read and yeah I don’t like it just remove the cd and the lyrics to maximize the profits and that’s it what’s the point of buying an album If you only get PCs I know fans love to bulky anyway but I still hate this idea I buy albums for the packaging and not a damn pc with virtually bs.

It's not a good idea. There may be fans who want to listen to the CD. At the very least, they must should add the cd in one version and not in other versions. If he wanna save the money, he can add to limited version.

j-hope had only a digital version

i don't think fans listen to cds but they like to have a physical copy. especially fans who collect albums. cd, photocards, photobook, poster,s and all the goodies that are included.

jhope's version has two photocards, two or three stickers, and qr code to stream it on weverse. and that's it.

The few kpop vinyls I've seen are even more expensive than western ones, I will not buy a vinyl for 50 to 60 dollars They need to make them less expensive and more available if they want to make that transition.

I bulk buy a lot and i dont throw them. I sell them off at cheap price to those fans who couldnt afford the expensive full albums. A win win situation

They should just make albums from recyclable material

Tbf The CDs looks cool but that's about it. Nobody uses cd player in this day and age. The album sleeves and photocards are probably just about enough for aesthetics

i think people would be okay if photobook is included. but only photocards, qr code and probably stickers
