It's summer again so still enjoying this years later.
2016:
Boombayah by Blackpink.
Still my favorite Blackpink song. Everything works: the beat, introducing the girls, the swagger, the outfits. Still one I enjoy often. I mostly listen to music on Spotify now, but this often wants me to watch the MV as well.
2017:
Chase me by Dreamcatcher.
Still energizes me. One of their best.
2018:
Didn't expect this to win for me for this year, but when I thought about it, this is the one.
2019:
Hip by Mamamoo.
Fun, confident and a great sound. I already liked Mamamoo but their crowning achievement for me. This year had most contenders for me with Twice, ONEUS, Stray Kids, Dreamcatcher and Apink also being in the running, but Hip won in the end.
2020:
Seems like yesterday this came out. Still love it.
2021:
Hwaa by (G)I-dle.
This year's biggest bop for me. I am more a fan of this type of song than their most recent work.
2022:
Dun Dun Dance by OMG.
Even just writing the song title makes me want to sing it again. So catchy.
2023:
Cupid by Fifty Fifty
I didn't spend that much time on Kpop this year, so know less about it than normal. This is the one I listened most to. Sorry about how it all ended.
2024:
Remains to be seen. Contenders so far: Illit, AESPA, NMIXX, ATEEZ, TXT.
