Some are recalling the Wendy accident mocking sassy black women as well and asking for apologies. How can Kpop groups not learn by now?

People are so soft...
They weren't mocking black people. They were mocking sassy girls on tiktok and they didn't even say that black girls were sassy. Whoever edited this decided to put a picture of a black woman.

well the blame is not on Youngji or Yujin but on the person who edited the show
they were talking about sassy girls on tik tok, it didn't have any racist connotation
but the fact that editor directly consider that this way of acting/speaking can only mean it's a "black girl" show that whoever is the editor he must do some research and educate himself
-
already know where this thread is heading smh. anyways
-
you stan bp who imitate black woman everyday. Please
-

That's not on them but the editors

I was honestly uncomfortable watching that part of the show.
I definitely understand why black people are upset watching that clip and I hope that SSE makes a statement about this.
To me it seemed like Yujin was mocking Youngji, rather than black people, but since Youngji tends to imitate black women a lot Yujin by default mocks black women too.
It definitely saddens me

The second i saw that, i knew it would become another ifan scandal lol.
Starshit won't care, they may issue a canned statement, they may not, but in the end, they don't care about I fans. Starshit isnt Hybe/YG/JYP, they dont care or target US consumption. Korea/Japan/China/SEA is all that matters to them.
-
The main problem here is the editor. They def shouldn't have put a pic of a black women on there.
But the girls aren't imitating black women, unless they said something about black women that wasn't included the clip.
To me it seems like they were imitating people on tiktok that act like that, and those people come from all races.

But their fans do care about this.
It might be tomorrow or some time later on that they will mass emailing starship to address this issue.

Wendy is a bit different as she actually went to school with black women so to see her turn around and mock them for some Korean validation was alot more disappointing
I do think kpop stans are a bit too immature to have a decent discussion around this but the editor associating sassy girls with black women is def a side-eye. Youngji definitely takes alot of her mannerisms from black women too so this isn't that surprising from her. I do hope they release a statement but knowing how these companies move I doubt that'll be the case.
Honestly this coming out right after they signed with a US label for distributing isnt a very good look, how are you gonna want to expand your reach worldwide and don't do research on the basics? Surely the company looks over what was filmed and decides what will or will not be released to the public?
-
Obviously Yujin isn't at fault here. She isn't responsible for what images the video editors put after the recording. In contrast, what Wendy did was her own doing.

It's possible the company just reviews the parts before the final editing to see what Yujin was doing, but not the one where the extra graphics are added.

Just a general reminder, it's valid for people to take issue with how this moment of the show was presented.
To me, it comes off as a microaggression due to the editor's fault. Even if you're not Black, you can still try to be empathetic.
I'll give an example. Imagine a show having white celebrities who acted like studious people and the editor put up a caricature of an Asian nerd. The celebs on screen wouldn't be at fault because, in their minds, they're just acting as studious people. It would be the editor's fault for bringing up a stereotype nobody else was thinking of.
So yes, I think this is a real issue that deserves attention, but be serious about it instead of resorting to fanwar antics.

im not surprised with this youngli said nword and k hip pop rapper...also friend with jay park...
I think this is editor problem...no the girls
....why wendy is here...she is born in canada but never apologize with her skit...she is known smart...she dont care about respected other culture...
Wendy was born in South Korea. And unless you're going to criticize her for stereotyping white people as well, it's all just selective outrage anyway.
-
Sigh. The host should know better.
Some stupid stan or Kakao employee will most probably compile a everyone in Korea is racist Youtube video to deflect to bring down kpop even further.
See what I mean? It's all Kakao this Kakao that
