I've noticed a lot of GFriend defending SM stans as of late as to why Hybe will disband groups and I chuckled at that because even though what happened to GFriend was unfortunate, these SM stans either are brand new to kpop or don't remember what they did to Infinite and all former SM idols that dared to sue them and leave. I need kpop stans to be consistent if they did know of SM's past and are acting out like this.

Kpop fans really should learn what the word monopoly means.
Sm didn’t have a monopoly in 2G, the label was of course the biggest and had some of the most popular and impactful groups in kpop but other groups and labels still managed to compete or even beat SM. YG groups were huge and overall stronger digitally, groups like T-ara, Sistar, 2pm, Beast etc were big names that could rival SM groups.
First of all a monopoly is having the complete control of something, especially in an area of business
secondly SM was never a monopoly they never had a complete control on kpop in korea, yes they had a tons of groups doing great but they were not the only one
SNSD was successfull but were competing directly with WG a GG from JYP and 2NE1 but also KARA
TVXQ, Shinee were doing great, but 2PM, Big bang were doing as well than them and were a direct competition to them
it's hard to consider that they were a monopoly when their groups were directly competing with other Group from other companies
and SM were never buying companies who were direct competition to them
now if we look at now if SM merge with HYBE
the situation of Monopoly is much more obvious in this case
because if we compare A girlgroup like NewJeans, their direct competition will be Lesserafim, aespa, Both groups who would be part of Hybe if sm merge with them, and then Gidle and IVE
and if we look at Boygroups, in korea the most serious competition for BTS in term of BG who do not too bad digitally we would only have TXT, NCT, Seventeen
in the case of SM merging with Hybe the direct competition of Hybe groups would come from Hybe subsidiaries
when in the market most of your competition is your own products and not the products of other companies, it's kinda hard to deny the fact that you're not in a monopoly situation
Because it clearly show that HYBE would have the control over the kpop market in korea
SM was a monopoly in 2nd gen with Boa, TVXQ, SNSD, Shinee, f(x) dominating the industry. Other companies can’t compete with them. Yet people stan SM and love that they dominate Kpop. But now Hybe is doing the same and buying other companies, Kpop fans say Hybe is evil and even support Kakao. Why?

The more i think i don't think I've ever seen a fandom that claims to know everything the way kpop stans do and that fact that the biggest majority of kpop fans are teenagers who barely got out highschool speak on serious matters like this ones makes it somehow laughable

To be fair, some kpop stans really convince me with the way they speak and seem to be very intelligent. Ive seen plenty say very interesting and smart stuff and learned from them as well. Ofc its not everyone, but theres a lot that are nerds at heart and know what theyre talking about

Kakao is a tech company and their music subsidiaries operate in an independent way. Hybe is before anything a music company. Kakao bought Stayc's company and didnt had any influence in their sound or anything else. Hybe bought Source Music and changed Gfriend's music and concepts and then disbanded them in an abrupt way that was disrespectful to fans.
That's where the concern comes from.

I studied journalisme and i work as a journalist my main focus is politics and economy and one thing i can say is if you don't live in the country your talking about it's hard to form an opinion let alone make a whole statement there is reason why journalist are sent to the actual where the events happen because you have to live the event in oder to construct a proper statement

Especially when it comes from westerners both cultures clashes with one an other
All i know is that everyone keeps saying their legacy, etc. , but give HYBE some time, and the newer generation of fans will say the same thing about HYBE 's legacy and influence being unmatched. Eventually the old guard gets replaced with a new one. The newer generation will go off of the new guard which is HYBE. It's HYBE's time now.
