The debut years look right to me. Some further thoughts I had:

• The Sec‍ond Generation started prior to 2007. The most notable debut fr‍om those years would probably be that of Bro‍wn Eyed Girls in 2006.
• 2009 also saw the debut of f(x), and I'd rank them above 4M‍inute and After School.
• For 2010, Mi‍ss A should definitely be listed.
• If yo‍u're looking for other groups for 2011, there's Bra‍ve Girls, Dal Shabet, Ra‍nia, and St‍ellar to consider.
• Wow, 2013 was a tough year, but I suppose yo‍u could list Bestie or Wassup.
• GFri‍end should certainly be listed for 2015.
• 2017 was a fairly weak year as well; other options include Al‍ice/Elris, Busters, and Pri‍stin.
• For 2020, perhaps Secret N‍umber, Wee‍ekly, or Wo‍o‍ah should be considered.

There are many ways to define this, one was with SM debuting their new boy groups (or GGs to be female specific), but since they debut so many now in days, this got complicated.

I do like how this person defines each generation on their blog.

Not really. The Gen 3 girl groups were still dominant for the most years

From 2015 to 2021.

Gen 4 didn't start dominating until 2022.

Oh my this is all wrong lol. 2012-2018 is 3rd gen. 2018-2024 is 4th gen. 2025 might finally see 5th gen starting.

3rd gen started in 2012 with AOA and Exid then went on to MMM and Red Velvet. 3.5 gen started in 2015 with Gfriend, Twice, and Ohmygirl.

4th gen started with Idle and Izone in 2018 and later Itzy, Aespa and Stayc. When Ive became Izone's first daughter group in 2021, that was the beginning of 4.5 gen, with NJ, LSRFM, NMIXX, Kepler following. 4.75 gen started in 2023 with KIOF and includes Illit, Baemon, Meoww and Izna.

5th gen might finally start with the Aespa replacement group Heart2heart.

I see it all the time too, this is crazy. That would mean 4th gen barely lasted 5 years since Idle debuted in May 2018 and KIOF in July 2023.

Heart being the beginning of 5th gen makes sense too, seeing as how RV was SM's 3rd gen group, Aespa was SM's 4th gen group and now Heart being their 5th gen group.

The fifth generation of K-pop is set to conquer the charts this February, with leading groups like IVE and ZEROBASEONE spearheading a wave of highly anticipated comebacks.

Girl group IVE is making a comeback with its third EP, “IVE EMPATHY,” on Feb. 3. The upcoming album will consist of six songs, including the double title tracks, “REBEL HEART” and “ATTITUDE.”

“'IVE EMPATHY' is an album that adds a unique charm to the team's colors stemming from 'proactive confidence,' which is the symbolic identity of IVE,” the group’s agency Starship Entertainment said in the release.

“Through this new album containing IVE's diverse musical colors, the group will continue to explore about 'myself,’ while stirring (audiences’) curiosity emotionally with a more mature perspective and expanding its ‘new style' infinitely.”

One of its members, Jang Won-young took part in writing the lyrics for the song, “ATTITUDE.” Another member, Liz, took her first stab at writing lyrics with the track, “Thank U.”

The group kicked off the album’s promotions, prereleasing the title track, “REBEL HEART,” on Jan. 13. The song topped iTunes’ Top Song chart in four different countries.

Boy group ZEROBASEONE is gearing up for its fifth mini-album, slated to hit the shelves on Feb. 24, dropping one of its tracks, “Doctor! Doctor!”, on Monday prior to the album’s release.
