Just 2 years ago, Lisa was crying on a fansign when fans told her she shouldn’t wear braids and she applogized. Since then, not many incidents have happened. But suddenly now Treasure, NCT and other groups are doing it again, and companies don’t even care to apologize. Some fans are even hyping up idols who do CA. Is Kpop going backwards?
Why are Kpop groups doing cultural appropriation again after stopping for a while?

I don't know who the first guy is, but my first thought is that it looks a bit like what Japanese chefs wear in the kitchen.
Is it supposed to appropriate Japanese culture or another one?

durag.
Black people use it to keep our hair laid down and neat. Has become a bit of a hip hop aesthetic even though it's pretty much nonfunctional on non-black hair

Most of the people calling out those idols in those screenshots don't even actually care about CA and the communities offended by it.
When will kpop fans learn weaponizing serious social issues for the sole purpose of dragging idols and entertaining their dumb fanwars make them more problematic than the idols they are trying to cancel.

It's just a hairstyle! It's just fashion! So what, with Kpop idols they are confined to one type of hairstyle? The Asian hairstyle? The white people hairstyle? If this is the case then there should be no dark skin colored person whatsoever among Kpop idols since even a basic hairstyle popularized by black people can't even be done by a Kpop artist without being shamed for it. We shouldn't be calling them out if they don't prefer dark colored skin people in the industry. An eye for an eye! I've been seeing Bad Bunny all over these days due to his relationship with Kendall. Many of his previous and even current hairstyle are what you would call "cultural appropriation", but no one, NOT ONE person bats an eyelash on him. I recently listened to Justin Timberlake's hit album, "FutureSex/Love Sound". A lot of it are of Jazz/Soul genre and yet not one person has called him out accusing him of cultural appropriation.
And remember the song 'Fire' by 2NE1? The MV has a lot Indian traditional fashion references in them especially in Sandara's part. Listen to it closely, you'll hear a lot of beats that resembles an Indian sound like in those Bollywood movies. Fire was a megahit, a legendary song in Kpop debut history. Is it offensive that they did all these references??! 2NE1 is a 2nd gen, Fire came out year 2009-- A time when there was very little ifans aware of Kpop, thus you don't hear all these nonsense about cultural appropriation. Artists, companies and idols just producing music without any ill-intent to harm other people's culture.
Cockroach fans, as usual... from America!

I can't tell if people that think like this are serious or willfully missing the point.
Most braids are associated with modern black culture. When stylists put them on idols, they are very obviously inspired by black culture, hence why they only come out in hip-hop or rnb concepts.
If it's not to deliberately imitate black culture, why aren't there braids for literally any other concept like cute or bubblegum pop?

You're entire post was nonsense but PLENTY of people have called out Justin for being a leech. Clearly listening is just not your thing lol

did they ever stop? CA in kpop is so common, a lot of people have criticized that aspect of kpop let it be in any kpop fandom or an outsider. I do agree that kpop idols should be called out (along with the stylist and company) for disrespecting and being ignorant to cultures. The thing with Kpop fans is the fact that they weaponize C.A and Cultural ignorance for fanwars or as excuse to say the most vilest things to the idols. Another thing is the fact that they label anything as rascist, I bet they don't even know what the word rascism even means because they use it for every little thing. Like I said I'm not trying to really excuse their behavior but I am saying that CA accussations are mostly weaponize by kpop fans and brought up only on fan wars. So yeah, will CA ever stop in kpop the answer is most likely no.

This and durags lol this has been a thing many cultures have worn for years. Fuck all these fake woke gatekeeping clowns 🤡🤡🤡. Tell them to stop speaking Korean using Korean names having Asian tattoos and using asian hairstyles and culture. Suddenly they will say that's unfair 🤡 these people are soo lucky the rest of the world doesn't practice this brain rot stupidity because we can surely close you off from society

"why are these idols - whom I already hate- not getting dragged for the exact same things I swore weren't a big deal when my own faves did them? Rage rage rage"
It's so funny

A lot of them don't care about Black or Asian people ironically. They're so hyperfocused on dragging other groups or getting back at fans of other groups that they don't see the bigger picture at all.
There's a whole lot of internalized racism, sometimes intergenerational trauma that gets passed down, that I notice when a lot of K-pop fans bring up these issues that they pretend to care so much about.

I am more and more convinced that either bbb998 and godkingteshub were the same person or bbb998 is just stealing the stuff teshub did
Remember, bbb998 is SUPER disingenuous. They aren't a fan of kpop, they don't ever seem to post anything showing enjoyment of ANY kpop group at all. They only post stuff like this designed to illicit fanwars and fights and recently, their newest tactic involves racebait topics.

Lol it’s funny when people say “BUT EGYNTIANS/RUSSIANS ALSO USE BRAIDS!!” yet these idols only put on the braids and the blaccent whenever they do a hiphop song and act tough/swag.

Agreed. Pulling in BTS in the OP made me suspicious as well, as I remember negative posts about BTS from this OP and that was clearly just to start fanwars.
Second poster fell for it, but I hope people will be more critical about who is posting stuff and what they try to accomplish (goes for beyond this website as well).
A lot of the time on Twitter, people post stuff like:
"Group A sucks Group B is better" under a post by Group A.
And then some idiot fans of group A immediately start dragging Group B, while the poster is not even a fan of group B (and sometimes not even a Kpop fan at all).
