Your thoughts on lores in K-pop? (+poll)

It can make otherwise boring k-pop music videos worth watching.

If it's interesting, though, like the BTS and Loona lore.

The Aespa stuff?

I pretend I do not see it.

I like it and 3/5 of the groups I stan have lore, but I don't spend too much time caring about.

Like it. It got me into BTS, and while I got into TXT for their music their complicated storyline made me getting into the theory side of things more.

I know SM has storyline too but I’m not that caught up with NCT and Exo lore yet. I do know where to find info about Hybe storyline but it’s harder with them.

They're fine, having a lore adds an incentive for fans to invest more time and energy into a group which might lead to more loyalty in fans. If done well, I think it's a good addition. There's a different feeling when you watch an MV that is peppered with lore based details as opposed to just a visual based MV. It's also easier to generate fandom memes when you have reoccurring themes. (like Billlie's Snowman )

Though I've heard people say that lores that are very central to the group's identity pushes potential them away from being totally committed as they feel they are not 100% a fan if they're not interested about the significance of the placement of this teddy bear to a member's storyline so there's that

I'm a nerd for things like this, but my theories are wack.

I have the opposite opinion

I really liked Bangtan's and I currently really like TXT's but something like the SMCU doesn't interest me much at all

It's cool,but I'm not the kind of person that will dive too much into it.

I am such a sucker for lore, I love reading people's theories and I like it so much, enhypen's lore is my favorite so I'm really into that kind of stuff

I like it! I don't theorize over it but it's always cool when it's there for groups!

I like it. And while many people think that it's cringy, i genuinely enjoy the experience and fun especially aespa's lore/world building. Though i usually never make theories or anything like that.

i truly do not care, most of them seem half assed and like fans just read way too much into it

I like it but I don't invest much time theorizing about it.

GFriend's lore is the one I know the most and I liked it except when Mago came and it felt really disconnected from the whole story.

I love lore and I love spending time trying to figure things out.

The only lore I was invested was EXO's but I gave up after the China Line left the group.

Aside from OnlyOneOf's lore (which is now ruined 'cause of Love's departure), I don't care about it at all.

Kpop groups last about 7 years (if nothing wrong happens with them), idk why lores are even a thing.

I pay zero attention to it. I don't care if others get into it, except when they get "no, you don't understand, it actually is a good song because it plays into this theory" and like... the music has to come first. If it's shit, then I don't gaf that it pays off some theory in some way.

I am a certified nerd so I adore lores but based on the story. The SM Culture Universe episode of aespa was honestly one of the best things in Kpop. But I fear SM was scared of seeing fans happy for once so they stopped doing it because they’re allergic to positive feedback.

If they are well executed like EXO, TXT and NCT. Yes.

I don't care for it.

I like lore for Dreamcatcher MVs, but music is the most important. If I don't enjoy music, I don't wanna spend time to lore either.

I miss time when only exo had their own lore, now everyone has it and I can't keep up and I don't plan to tbh

I think it’s fun. I enjoy reading the theories and stuff. Lots of artists and MVs have had lore, they just didn’t call it that - but they would have a recurring character, event or motif in them..
