Do you like them? Hate them? Find them annoying? 
Wanted to know what people think... personally I think they are all annoying, even the ones that don't send hate... I just cannot understand how can you stan a person in a group and ignore the others? Btw there's a difference having a bias and being a solo stan.
As long as their being honest with their identity as a solo stan and not bringing down the other members it’s fine.
Every groups have solo stans, they still support the group just that they might be more sensitive to their fave in the group and as long as they don't drag the other members I don't think there is anything wrong.. Akgaes are the one that is annoying since they think the group can only survive with their personal fave and will look down on the other members easily..

But yeah, BTS solo stans are NOT Army and I despise it when solo stans from any fandom start getting into these crazy mindsets and try to pit their beloved against the members of their own group or start rumours or send fucking trucks etc. It’s an insult to the people they claim to be a fan of.

There's a big difference between solo stans and akgaes. I used to like a group and I've become disillusioned with a huge portion of the members (not kpop) and now I only like two and still support them. I don't hate the rest, I just no longer care for them for my own reasons. I support those two and never engage in fanwars (because I'm an adult so I really don't care), never diss the others etc. and I feel like that's fine?
solo stanning a person that's in a group of 3+ people; to be honest, i don't even get how you get there. the group members rely on each other, they share the spotlight and content. if they were solo we wouldn't be getting the content we've been getting, circumstances would be completely different. how do you listen to their group's songs? ignore others' existence?

I see some questions in the thread about how someone can support just one member - I could maybe see this from a vocal perspective where you really like that person’s voice but aren’t as interested in the other voices in the group? I’m just spitballing here - I can think of members in groups where I really like one members’ voice but don’t care for the group’s music in general (or the other vocalists in the group) so I keep an eye out for when the person does solo work so I can enjoy that voice. Or perhaps you really like a member who raps but is given very little opportunity in a group to make room for other rappers? Perhaps it’s something like one those?

There are many people who like Heechul got example and don't even know that he's a SJ member let alone like or support SJ, and there's really nothing wrong with that.

I get tired when people at nagging about giving solos to their favorite member or claiming the member get unfair treatments. But it's always normal to have favorites in the groups you like, must fans have. I always have some members I like more than others in my favorite groups. But I never get fanatic about it and I can change favorite member in the groups when times goes by.

that makes sense because the idol in question makes content outside of the group. i saw on twitter suga solo stans, or should i say agust d solo stans, they like only his solo stuff but not bts. but solo stanning, idk jin, who has no solo just group activities, that i don't get
Some people have very odd reasons to stan their faves, I don't get it either. I'd never solo stan someone because of their looks or "personality" but some people apparently do, so as long as it's harmless and doesn't veer into akgae territory, it doesn't bother me.

It's hard to be a fan of the group in general if you don't like the other members of the group as well. Of course, you could may be fan of one member most. But if you don't like the others, I think it would be torture to be a fan of the group. For example, in songs, it doesn't matter who takes how long parts. the part given to everyone is the most suitable part for the groups member. It doesn't matter as long as it's not toxic. But most Solo stans tend to be toxic.

Sometimes it makes sense anyway. Like Mamamoo all have active solo careers so it's not a surprise that there will be people who'll know and like them through their solo stuff.
I'm friends with some and it's not like they can't stand watching other members when there's group content lol. They just don't follow the other members' solo activities.
