  • Well...this sucks. It's not surprising, but disappointing nevertheless. The girls did their very best with what was given. I enjoyed their music, yet at the same time it felt like the company's vision for the group was falling apart gradually. I really loved 'Doremi', but I didn't think it would be their final Korean title track. At least the company is putting in the effort to give them the last hurrah they deserve.

  • What a waste of talent because they were one of the most talented 4th gen groups. I think they needed to stick with a concept instead of chasing trends. Hopefully they land somewhere if they want to stay in this industry but it would be a shame if they leave because they were talented. I still can't believe how bad RBW handled them because this group should have performed better.

I guess the fate for groups in that AI Idol survival show is most of them will disband because it's not looking good for any of the groups involved in that show.

Unsure if Swan goes solo but she still made one of my favorite kpop songs ever

  • And, another one bites the dust.

Ngl, I respect that RBW just decided to pull the trigger now instead of shelving the girls and putting them in the dungeon for the remainder of their 7 year contract.

My guess is, they are probably going to prepare to debut another GG and are cleaning things up in the mean time.

  • that's sad to hear but I felt it coming

nevertheless, I hope the members enjoy the rest of the promotions together with their fans

RBW giving ample time and space for members and fans to say their farewells, at least that's good

I hope the members all the best for their future endeavors, they are still young and can debut again if they choose that path. VIVIZ and ARTMS as examples.

  • tragic news

especially if we consider that Goeun will be 26 years old at that time, and Dosie 25

it's basically end of career in terms of being in a group, unless there will be some survival show

here are Knetz reactions as well

[theqoo] RBW CONCLUDES GIRL GROUP PURPLE KISS' ACTIVITIES

    original post: here

    1. Swan's voice was seriously the best

    2. Every member in this group was so talented, I liked them so much ㅠ

    3. The company sucks so bad at doing their job

    4. What an utter waste of talent... I still kinda predicted that this would be their last album

    5. Honestly, if you take the members' talent, they were at the top of the 4th gen. If you just watch their videos and look at the viral ones, all the comments talk about "what are they doing?" seriously even for producing and composing, the members even did that for their b-side tracks

    6. Hul...

    7. Didn't they have some kids who were great singers?

    8. They even shot a challenge with my bias not long ago. I'm so shocked... It's so hard to make it when you're from a small agency

    9. Are they crazy?

    10. They picked such good members too, what a waste...

  • I'm sad. I'm angry. I did expect it, yes. And screw rbw. They did if not nothing, barely enough to promote purki.

It's the second gg I love that disbands in the span of one year (both 4th gen ffs). I wasn't the best plory but it still hurts.

    Did I say screw rbw?!

We need to be realistic, it's a very tough competion, not many groups acctually get be top groups. And if you are not from the big companies, even harder. You only get mabye 2-3 years max to establish yourself as a group, after that is more or less over if you are still a "nogu". Sure, you can be a late bloomer like Oh My Girl, but that is not many.

I know... Like I said I expected it but it's still very frustrating. And seeing rbw making them do as much activities as they would give them for a period of 1/2 years in a few months before disbanding feels even more frustrating.

  • This show was really cursed. I guess it makes sense because it was mostly low/mid-tier groups that competed in it. I wonder if there's even less of a place for groups in this tier due to the current climate. I think there's only so much money to go around it feels like it's even tougher for groups to breakout. I feel with even less opportunities to support low/mid tier groups this might become more of a common thing if group doesn't start strong.

I assume we'll be hearing about the same fate for Lightsum and Wooah because they haven't released new music for 10+ months

  • I actually want to burn down their building! In 4 years, RBshit never did anything for PURKI, not even a simple thing like giving them a Light Stick. Without MAMAMOO money, they would go bankrupt already.

And now what they're trying to do with this is just basically acting as Satan! It's literally torture. They said: "Okay, your career is over but for a couple of months you still have to promote a new album and do a US, Japan and SK tour.

If I'm a member, I'd say: "Piss off, just shot me in the head instead."

I fcking HATE this company! I hope t he girls can leave now and re-debut under their old CEO's new company.

I'm not surprised by this news, btw, but I'm furious! It's one thing to disband a group if they flop for years, but when it's obviously the company's fault, and you know these girls are amazing and one of the best girl group of all-time you just want to k-ll their CEO's.

Yeah, I'm mad as hell, excuse my language!

I will say, this is a good way to disband, give fans time to say goodbye.

This is how Japanese groups tend to do.

Are you kidding? This is the most disgusting shit I've ever seen in my whole life in Kpop! I hope no one's gonna buy their album and tickets, because you don't support the girls with that, you only support RBShit.

I don't even know what to say. The group is over that's for sure, but they probably can't leave till the 7 year long contract ends.

Fck this shit hole company. :pepe-firing:

I think that person on X/twitter writing "terminating" kind of make a mistake here

I understand what Swan says as: "we were told in company that Purple Kiss is over but the contract is still there (actual)"

this kind of reminds me of CLC situation or some other groups which were put in dungeon for 1,5-2 years.

Going point. Seunghee officially left Cube last year, which would mean it took 2 years to officially leave

Pretty sure they will use the girls as composer / choreographer and songwritter :DAngy2:

  • You need to have bigger picture here so I will say it. No one seem to take into consideration one thing so I will lay it out for you all.

RBW owns WM Entertainment as well, they have 80% shares if I remember well. And WM CEO apparently debuted USPEER without green light from RBW. The thing here is RBW also owns DSP, which debuted Young Posse two years ago. So my take on that is RBW didn't gave WM consent to debut new girl group because they're operating with multi sub-labels but still shouldn't have 'too much' of rookies/new groups in same time. The problem in this case is that WM CEO probably already know that some of Oh My Girl members won't renew contracts with agency, and as he is known to be a kind man he probably thought it's best time for WM to debut new girl group. And I agree it was best time for WM to give us new group, but overall it was a bad timing for RBW to do so. Even more it's always easier to either keep trainees for longer period within agency, or just axe them, than axing full, already debuted group.

Consequence of those action was that WM CEO was released from his position by board. And sadly no matter how we look at things it kind of also feels that Purple Kiss got hit by shrapnel here. Maybe also because there is that common thing nowadays that agencies disband groups which are in their 4-5 year after debut but don't have big sales, and also are not invited into Korean festivals by schools, and cities.

And if you look at RBW currently as a whole, they have well known groups like Mamamoo (RBW), Kara (DSP), and Oh My Girl (WM), but more members from mentioned groups have contracts with different agencies, than those which are under three labels owned by RBW.

People keep trying to make this sound like some genius corporate chess move when it’s really not that deep. RBW has been mismanaging both girl groups and boy groups for years now. This isn’t limited to PURPLE KISS or some drama with WM’s CEO. The issue is how they spread themselves too thin after acquiring multiple labels, then constantly push new acts while leaving their existing artists to rot.

PURPLE KISS ending activities in November doesn’t mean “RBW made a strategic decision after WM messed up.” It means exactly what fans have seen for a while.. RBW cuts off groups that aren’t pulling big numbers, regardless of potential. The members themselves admitted they’re stuck under contract but can’t move freely. That’s not clever management; that’s corporate neglect.

And let’s not pretend boy groups have it easier. MIRAE’s gone, ONEUS has been unevenly handled, and DSP’s newer projects are barely getting consistent support. RBW keeps debuting new rookies while abandoning the ones already in the system. That’s a cost-cutting pattern, not some “big picture” master plan.

It’s fine to like certain groups, but ignoring that RBW’s mismanagement hits both sides just shows bias. The whole structure is broken, not just the part that fits a convenient narrative.

  • PURPLE KISS ending activities in November doesn’t mean “RBW made a strategic decision after WM messed up.” It means exactly what fans have seen for a while.. RBW cuts off groups that aren’t pulling big numbers, regardless of potential.

    This and only this.

I know my girls don't do good, RBW missed them. What's done is done, we can't go back to the past.

But they could have at least released them from their contracts and allowed them to pursue the rest of their careers as they wished. And for that, they have no excuse; they're simply holding onto them. I remain convinced that they will try to use them in production work to reduce some of their costs and make money from the rights they hold over them.

Exactly. This sums it up so well. RBW’s pattern with groups that don’t immediately pull big numbers has been really clear for a while now. It’s frustrating because Purple Kiss had such a strong debut and distinct identity early on. That eerie, theatrical concept was working and really set them apart. Instead of building on it, RBW kept changing directions, which only diluted what made them stand out.

Swan especially could thrive anywhere. She’s one of the best vocalists in 4th gen, and I’m sure other companies know that too. And as you know, I’m not even a GG stan, but I could still see it. I genuinely don’t know what’s going on in RBW’s head. They’ve got so much potential between their roster and still seem to waste it. They could’ve built so much momentum off ONEUS and ONF, yet… nothing.
