I think it'd pretty obvious to say that Newjeans and IVE are currently the top 2 girl groups at the moment. With the 3rd spot being a little less concrete but right now it belongs to le sserafim. In previous generations, the big 3 always managed to create at least one girl group that sat comfortably at the top. In 2nd gen it was Wonder Girls-SNSD-2NE1. And in the 3rd generation it was the iconic Twice-Red Velvet-Blackpink. But now big 3 girl groups are struggling to get consistent hits with the Korean general public. Meanwhile anything IVE and Newjeans release can chart instantly and le serafim are a rising force. The 4th gen girl groups from the big 3 are no means unsuccessful, but compared to thier predecessors they aren't exactly leading thier respective generations. What happened in 4th gen that made it that the big 3 couldn't make girl groups that automatically made it to the top?
Why are the top 3 girl groups right now not from the Big 3?

you can't say big3 now without mentioning HYBE when they outgrown other companies so much...
so it's either big4, or big3 without one of YG/JYP
also through the 'eras' or 'generations' in KPOP the big3 always changed, through the time, just think/read about what happened to DSP
ah and also a reminder that when aespa debuted they literally killed the game
as SWITH I felt it the hard way because STAYC was in this shitty position where it felt like all awards were granted to aespa for having first charts and then both charts and sales
so from my perspective it kind of seems like SM messed it up with those hiatuses, project songs, and GOT the beat releases when they've should just focus on keeping aespa rolling things and 'dominate', but with SM's strategy they basically opened the doors for other groups

because companies are conspiring against the BIG three to TEAR them down. They are putting bad omens onto these groups, nmixx flop, aespa stuck in virtual world, babymonster stealing from blackpink, it's bad for them... all we can do is pray for them because IVE got no hits are ruining k-pop...we can't allow them to continue. New Jeans....HYBE are NOT okay for that....I blame ALL of this on HYBE....every since they disbanded G-friend, KPOP has NEVER been the same. They messed up the universe and multi verse. I know their tea, I have figured it OUT.

Newjeans and Lesserafim are from Hybe
iZone and Les Serafim are both child from Produce series which is a huge deal, you cannot inherit the two biggest members of iZone and expect them to not amass huge fandoms since the debut
YG GG is yet to debut
Itzy debuted way to early in the gen
Aespa is just too badly managed

It's Big 3, for cultural and branding reasons.
Just because Hybe is running up their debt to buy small labels doesn't mean they're Big anything.
SM, YG and JYP started it. Everyone else is just copying.

Well like others have said it’s due to a combination of factors, like SM mismanaging Aespa like crazy, JYP groups seemingly having lost their way with the charts (although NMIXX may be turning that around with LMLT), and YG not even debuting their new girl group yet. But also, if we look at overall, even though we’re well into 4th gen by now, big GGs like Blackpink and Twice are not slowing down, especially BP, so it’s not like the Big 3 domination has come to an end.
Also, I feel like HYBE is so big that we can’t act as though it’s a marvel idea that their groups are leading, even ahead of Big 3 groups. Even IVE, they have two ex-IZONE members and one of them is arguably the trendiest idol in SK right now. So even though the big 4th gen GGs are not from the Big 3, their popularity is not completely unfathomable.

Delusional. Hybe is bigger than any Big 3 company in every way, mindshare included. We can see this clearly looking at their 4th gen groups. Arguably 2 out of 3 biggest BGs are from them, 2 out of the 3 GGs too
Their next BG will be a big deal, I'm excited

And Hybe is a baby fish compared to Kakao.
And all of the companies will only grow.

While Kakao has a big influence in the industry, I still don't buy that it's the same case as HYBE. People talk about the new HYBE group but rarely talk about the new Kakao group. Kakao has influence but it's not that one

aespa's next comeback will probably put them back on top - but SM has been too distracted by internal turmoil lately. Nothing wrong with doing GOT the beat, but if they are going to form an all-star group they should at least give them decent songs. I don't think a single member's career was helped by doing that project.

That's what is even scarier to me.
In what way?

In what way?
they do it for the profit. They saw a cash cow in K-pop and moved in hard.

Fair point but isn't that like... all companies? HYBE acquiring smaller labels isn't exactly charity either

lsrf and aespa both have bigger hit. both have good streams on bsides. ive is a baby compared to them. And their first attempt at an album, they failed to capture global audience.
