Reminder: Men (not women) make girl groups

  • Remember that next time you get mad at or happy for a girl group.

When girl groups go too sexy or flop and disband. Blame men.

When girl groups go girl crush or become a success. Praise men.

I remember when Lady Gaga was so fascinated by Crayon Pop and loved them so much that she had them in her tour. That's great and all but men made that group. So please dont act like a woman was involved in it in any way.

Fun fact: Crayon Pop was formed when a man saw T-ara and was so inspired that he wanted to make his own girl group based on their style and sound. But on steroids.

I know this sounds like a "Men = good. Women = bad" but it's not. I'm just reminding yall that kpop is still a mans world.

I would love for a woman to start her own company and make her own girl groups (and boy groups) and have them be successful. But most women aren't wired that way. I want a story of a woman who loved Monsta X so much that she went out and made her own boy group in their style and sound but on steriods.

Beat Interactive was founded by a woman. They only had one group for a long time, A.C.E, but have signed several artists over the last year.

  • Reminder: they are not big of differences when men and women manage idol groups.

Men can make girls sing "I don't need a man" and, women can make girls sing "Oppa, please notice me".

  • So you're saying the idols themselves deserve zero credit for anything? Of course the company has a lot to do with it, but please don't discredit the work that idols put in.

There are female idols who participate in creating their own music, and lots of creative women behind the scenes. Min Hee Jin was a top creative director at SM and is now the CBO at HYBE. BoA is a creative director at SM.

The idols do deserve credit. But men know what will appeal to men. So they pick the members that has the most potential to make men fall in love with them.

Yes women do a lot of work for girl groups and their success but if the right members aren't selected for the group then it won't matter.

But, men do create girl groups for girls. Have not you heard "girl crush"? Irene more likely was chosen to make girls fall for her and, that choice is a big success.

Usually, women involve in member selection, in every the processes from audition to debut lineup decision.

This is a girl groups overseen by a woman (Sashihara Rino) in every processes.

This is a *good* topic overall , worthy of observations ...

Sure DB , you wanted to read all that (LOL) ...

    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lee_Hyori

LEE HYORI just *contracts* with some AGENCY (ESTEEM currently ???)

that she likes them ... On each PROMOTION (per event) that she does it ...

Obviously , HYORI knows people , and what she wants too.

  • Well it is a global trend that men are the primary market consumers of entertainment, therefore can make or break acts.

The best indicator for that is how female celebrities are impacted by their relationship, compared to male. The age old ethic across cultures of "another man's woman" is in play.

Escapist fare is affected by the factor. So the idols need to act cute, innocent, pure etc.

Whereas that dynamic is not an issue for male acts.

Of course this dynamic is fast eroding, lead by the west, where it matters the least.

However Kpop is actually different from other industries, where even male idols dating can cause damage to their careers. Indicating that female audience (15 year old girls :-) ) have a great influence as well.

Whether it is a good thing or not, Kpop actually might have better gender equality in this aspect, compared to other industries.

  • (Click)==> IU = EDAM Agency ; Observations

Well WhyKnock has been pushing that IU owns EDAM for long.

Ownership or not, it is undeniable that IU has near absolute creative control, since whenever..

And why would LOEN or Kakao object, when she breaks the charts, each time she releases. They would be foolish to spoil a good thing.

GIDLE Soyeon might be another case, but still she has to consider the group and CUBE is not dependent on GIDLE alone.

  • your writing style is so unique

  • The subject itself is discussion worthy but jesus whenever I thought you would make a point you just went to the opposing direction. That part where you said that we may think you're praising man but I was thinking you were trashing them the whole time... and then the wired part  I often wonder if you're really a troll or you just think like this and people just assume it's trolling

  • Women make UP ggs, we win

    7352-floppawicked.png

*Women* will win more , when they are MORE often members

of the *BOARD of DIRECTORS* of major K-pop Firms ...

    (HYBE , SMe , JYPe , YGe , CJ-ENM , etc)

The reality is that S.KOREA is *shamefully* MALE DOMINATED

in UPPER MANAGEMENT of MAJOR S.KOREA *CHAEBOL* (significant) firms.

This applies to NOT just K-pop Agencies , but *ALL* S.KOREA Business firms.

And I like BOA well enough (she is SMe Agency , Board of Directors) ...

BUT , BOA is *not* a K-pop MANAGER who rose up through a series

of successful performances at lower level manager jobs , to eventually

be on the SMe Board of Directors ... BOA is a *convenient* female face ...

that is trotted out ... As a female SHOW HORSE for Public Consumption.

  • She owns 60% of Edam

And she has gained a complete control over her activities because she endured the world ridicule when she was given the lifetime Achievement Award from MAMA in 2014, something her company back then has acknowledged

Before the Soojin mess, Soyeon did have an absolute control over Gidle, and Cube had no push upon how Soyeon ran it. Soyeon opposed releasing Soojin to the very end

  • I don't know about Tri.be and Lee Hyori but Lee Jieun does own 60% of Edam through proxies

  • And she has gained a complete control over her activities because she endured the world ridicule when she was given the lifetime Achievement Award from MAMA in 2014, something her company back then has acknowledged

Since Chat-Shire was released MAMA 2015, this is a nonsensical reason. She became a producer and controller well before your fictional event of ridicule

I've heard of a lot of directors and execs of groups branching out but most of them were males...

Sublime Agency's CEO is a woman I think. It's the label GOT7 Youngjae signed to and Jackson's Team Wang got a partnership deal with.

They don't have a gg or bg yet, mostly singers and actors.

Hoping for more opportunities for woman ceos.

  • Hoping for more opportunities for woman ceos.

I have always thought that *KAHI* (After School group) would be an

*excellent* possibility as a K-pop Agency *top level* manager ...

But KAHI has young age children still , and thus , NOT sure that she has

the TIME to do it ... But KAHI teamed with an *experienced* Male Manager

in some AGENCY (somewhat like TR Agency is , with *TIGER* + L.E = ELLY)

    might work well.
