So many akp users are over kpop but won’t admit it to themselves…

  • ITS TRUE. DON’T DENY IT.

we were once kpop fans but have grown out of it. but unlike people who move on to the next thing, we have a habit that is kpop and we stay in kpop communities because we’re addicted to finding that love kpop again.

but it won’t come, even if it feels like that temporarily. we get over kpop songs and comebacks quickly but are stubborn mfers and that’s why we’re in kpop purgatory.

we’re getting less interested and more impatient when the only thing that makes sense is just getting over it and moving on. why does it feel impossible?

maybe some songs will be good. i loved New Jeans new album but i realized that i don’t care about those girls at all. i just casually liked their songs so the whole kpop fandom and staying in the community is useless. i may as well just listen to some new songs that I like (getting fewer and fewer by the day) casually and call it quits.

if anything, kpop makes us frustrated. many of us are still trying to find that magic of the 2nd or 3rd gen days…but it don’t exist anymore.

kpop purgatory continues for those that are either too stubborn or weak to cut off from kpop. it’s like staying with an ex when all your feelings are gone, it’s a habit more than an interest anymore.

why do we feel like corpses of the old kpop?

    we should move on really…

  • Speak for yourself, i am at peak Kpop right now, even with my first loves fading away slowly (BP, Twice) ;(;( .

So many amazing GGs, soloists, and even some good BG songs.

  • I agree,

i became kpoo stan back in mid 2019 and my interest in kpop for first 2 years was really in peak but then soojin scandal happened in mid 2021 and ever since my interest in kpop faded by huge margin. My interest in kpop now is probably just 20% of what it was back in my earlier days, im just here for old times sake.

I don't really watch much kpop content nowadays, it just doesn't interest me anymore. Earlier i used to shit ton of kpop variety shows and reality shows almost daily but now i barely watch any in a week.

Same with akp i dont know why im here, i just make some nonsense threads and shit post every now and then for no reason

  • But why Soojin? I will never understand her appeal, like Soyeon is an amazing performer, Minnie and Yuqi have great vocals, and Miyeon is a literal all rounder, even Shuhua has been impressing me with her funny as hell variety recently. Yuqi, Minnie, and Miyeon are all fun in their own ways on variety as well. Soojin had zero personality as far as i could tell and was overrated as a dancer, Idle didnt miss a beat without her.

Its not about soojin, she (along with minnie) was my least favourite member in gidle anyways, its just that whole shitshow was a just big turn off and made me realise how big pile of shit kpop fanbase and industry is.

probably i think over time i would just have got bored of kpop regardless

  • Well I kind of get what you mean. I'm not nearly as invested in kpop as I used to be years ago, I dont check almost every release like I used to, it doesn't interest me anymore at all. I still listen to kpop music though and check the main releases, and in particular I love Ive and I enjoy following them but yeah it's not like when I just got into it and wanted to follow every new content by my faves.

narcissistic, my god i love it

  • HYBE is still dangling the carrot that BTS will be back in 2025.

Otherwise I would've gone already. No group matches them for me, as I'm a casual fan of other groups.

I had also left around 2015 after SNSD and Jessica, as their releases became meh. But then I found about BTS and I fell the rabbit hole again.

  • The ones that get in to kpop in their teenage years or early 20ies propably lose intrest in kpop faster than the ones who like me get into it at an older age. I got into kpop when I was +30 so my life is not that different today than around 2010-2011 when I started to listen to kpop. But a teenager will be a very different person 10 years later, well, even 5 years later, so not strange if their interest also change.

People that also are focused on only one favorite group probably also will lose their intrest faster, becaus when their favorite start to decline or even disband they also lose the intrest in kpop in general.

Still funny when people that have only been in kpop for 3-4 years talk about their "early days" and "old time" like four years is a long time.... :joy: :)

  • Because KPOP is a personal phase. Whether that's 5 years or 10 years, 15?, it will go away eventually. People have life to live, things to take care of, responsibilities. They can't always give it 100%. You're not in the community anymore, but still able to do some concerts once in a while. So in the sense of 'it became a habit instead of interests', you're absolutely right. But old habit dies hard.

The last decade made a big boom out of KPOP. Lots of groups, lots of achievements and lots of "1st". Give it another 10 years or 20. What are the new groups doing that their predecessors hadn't done? Are there any innovation left? Will it be the same copy and paste formula? By year 2033 or 2043, will the GP grown tire of KPOP?

Also, KPOP supposed to be an entertainment outlet, why are some of yall getting frustrated and shit lol. Make it an entertainment, not a personal belief or a job. I mean unless you're a staff at a company, but that's different.

    ---======--

  • Well, kinda true.

I used to only follow and watch BTS's Weverses/Vlives, Run BTS episodes diligently while being immersed in their music.

    Nowadays...

I listen to more western music and stayed on akp forums for the fun, also to check out new music but most were meh or nothing solid to interest me for a long time until NJs' a 'attentiooooonnnn'. I stream their songs hard, know them all, watched their lolla and Japanese stages but never followed the group nor watch their YouTube stuff etc. Ig, you can call me a casual fan of NJs?

  • Yeah, some people in the community do kind of seem like that, but I get it cause I've had moments were I wasn't really into the music aspect but I still liked the community and keeping up with what's going on.

Honestly, if not for NMIXX, I probably would be gone myself. I do like the music coming out of 4th gen from artists such as LSFM and IVE (and of course 3rd gen groups I still like even though they aren't as active as they used to be), but I'm not nearly as attached to them as I was a lot of groups in the 3rd gen. I don't even pay attention to BGs anymore outside of Stray Kids and Boy Next Door. If I had not become such a huge fan of NMIXX, I probably would just be a casual listener. Even with my love of NMIXX, I find myself going days and sometimes weeks without logging on to this forum because there's nothing to talk about. This forum is predominately filled with HYBE and SM fans, and I'm just not that interested in talking about those groups.

I'm interested how much my interest will continue into the 5th gen. Like, I'm somewhat interested in what kind of music Baemon, SM's NGG, JYPE's American GG, and their new Japanese BG will have. But, yeah, depends on if I like their music. I was completely ready to check out of KPOP when 4th gen started, so I'm in that mindset for 5th gen too. KPOP has always seemed to be an in and out community. I know a lot of people who lost interest in KPOP during the latter half of the 3rd gen, so this is nothing new and seems to happen every generation where a crop of new fans come in to replace the older. I think having people who consistently like groups from every generation is more rare than the latter.
