Maybe if I was also a teen I would have. But I can’t stan or follow the activities of children
-
I’ll follow their activities but I won’t consider myself a Stan until after I hear their music.

Well... I'm kind of "stanning" 3 pre-debut kpop groups at the moment.
-
I can be a fan and hype them up, but I would have to hear music (and more than a single) to really go "yes that's a group I stan!"

Interesting, I'll look them up in the future

I think I could stan a predebut group because its easy to stan and unstan new groups you hardly know. I kinda did it with txt, where I didn't stan but I had the intention to do so. I got lucky and ended up liking their songs and them as group. I intended to stan Enhypen as well but after their debut I wasn't interested.

ive only stannd two groups out of my stanlist predebut. which are txt and kep1er. i had a lot of faith in bighit at the time and fell in love with them when their individual teasers dropped (specifically gyu). thankfully the boys came out with bangers upon bangers.
for kep1er, i watched gp999. and after seeing the lineup i knew i was gonna stan the group, no matter what. i loved all the girls personalities and 4/9 of my top 9 made it in the group including my one pick (bahiyyih. my other top 9 in the group was yujin, mashiro, and dayeon). i was already familiar with all the girls too and they have amazing music
a lot of people didnt like wa da da and i thought it was okay at first but the song really grew on me. a lot. as in it hasnt left my top 12 spotify songs (over past 4 weeks) since 1/14/22 and has stayed in my top 3 spotify tracks (over past 4 weeks) since the beginning of march. wa da da is my top song over the last 6 months and ranked 17 on my all time tracks. o.o.o, mvsk and shine are ranked pretty high too. i dont listen to see the light nor another dream often but i love the tracks.
other than that i have stanned groups from debut era/when they didnt have much music (weeekly, stanned them when they had 5 songs. aespa, stanned them when they had 8 songs excluding forever. cherry bullet, stanned them when they had 13 songs.)

Kind of? If you mean stan predebut like anticipating and thinking they will be one of ur fav groups then yeah. I did it with aespa (ive been anticipating them since 2017 cause I love SM groups) and with Ive because I liked Wonyoung and Yujin and other Starship groups, and even more after the teasers dropped I was really interested in them. Wasnt disappointed in either case. I wouldnt say I'm stanning them predebut but I'm also anticipating trainee a and ador.

Unless they do a whole album pre debut a la stray kids, then NOPE

I was gonna say I don’t see myself standing without hearing the music first, but I suppose if I had been watching a TV show and someone with a magnificent voice was on it, I definitely would check out that group. But probably not stan.
-
Is there a specific definition of stan?
Probably not for me, though depending on their predebut stuff I'd keep tabs on them.
There are specific companies where I'd check out their newest groups as well due to their track record of delivering great music and entertainment/content.

The hype can be built before debut, but only after releasing the song that I can confirm if I'm gonna stan or not.

But this one is special

Uh, would be extremely unlikely, unless they’d come to attention for releasing /showing off music pre-debut. But, full -stanning is a very rare thing for me anyway. It would require a fairly long time of being blown away.
I think the most I would be get pre-debut would be to have my interest piqued enough to want to check out their debut release and hope for them it turns out to be good/they have a successful debut. I can see that if you followed one of the group survival shows, you might end up sort of stanning, but there’s no guarantee that just because you like them, they end up releasing good music.
