with the current Babymonster latest release, it is proven that the current kpop fans refuse to consume YG @ BP kind of music. we all know that this type of music will surely hit all the PAKS on kchart back then in 2nd and 3rd gen and have people talking nonstop (HYLT, Ddu Ddu Ddu Ddu, Kill This Love to name a few). But nowadays people prefer style like NJs, IVE and the latest one is ILLIT. considering that Aespa “Drama” and Lesserafim’s are also doing well and being a girl crush concept, why do you think people refuse to consume girl-crush-BP-style of music from babymonster?

Eh if the song sounds better, we will listen. The YG girl crush nowadays are outdated.
Only Le Sserafim, aespa, XG, KOF, Gidle is delivering bop girl crush music tbh. NMIXX can get back on track with futher release, their latest release was great too.
I'm not willing to give up overall NJ, ILLIT, IVE music for girl crush, thanks.

I believe a big portion of people who are disliking this song never liked BLACKPINK's music in the first place. Since 2018 BLACKPINK's songs have been divisive within K-pop community. What made them so big is that they appealed to an audience outside the K-pop niche and went mainstream especially in SEA and got a really big fanbase.

I mean i like the song but yeah different people like different things, i remember people hating BP songs then suddenly they change their mind when the song does well.

I listened to that Babymonster song and I can say YG is trying way to hard to replicate Teddy sound and Black pink type of vibe hoping buy doing this BM will hit big but it ended looking like a cheap copy of YG style with this we concluded YG style is just Teddy and without him that company has no identity

I 've always wondered why armys like new jeans / illit's music even more than LSFM ( or maybe G idle) their music is i so different than bts that is more charismatic and hip hop based at least for majority for their music. I know some like llsfm but probably a minority

Well, I am one of those ARMY. I don't really listen to LSFM and it took me a long time to start listening to NJ, but now they're my favorite girl group in 4th gen.
I found Antifragile very annoying, so that steered me away from them a bit. Am not sold on ILLIT though (yet?)
NJ songs are awesome. Play them every day now.

oh interesting it's so different for me LSFM is the only group I like from hybe not all the songs a few and antifragile is what got me a bit into them it's catchy for me
but I wonder why you guys don't like female groups with rappers like let's say G idle?

I think your last question is way too generalizing (no offense). I do actually like (G)I-dle and play them as well. I sometimes forgot about them when discussing 4th gen, since they debuted so early, but yeah, they were actually the first 4th girl group I consistently played. Queendom made me a fan.

The reason why newly found kpop fans like Blackpink however is the same as why 3rd gen kpop fans like Bigbang, both groups were already iconic and have a clear signature sound and image that is heavily associated with them. People are more likely to appreciate an artist that already have legendary stats
Other groups following their style are bound to be seem as reductive versions of Blackpink. If Blackpink had disappeared from kpop mindshare Baemon would have slightly better chances to hit, but the fact is Blackpink is still easily the biggest kpop girlgroup in collective consciousness

the fact that bp has the biggest fanbase by a long shot and the most casual fans contradict your point. btw I'm seeing a lot of American reactors reacting to baemon and they are loving the rap parts so I guess it also depends of the region too. There are kpop fans that are into hip hop or into rap

Because I think most ppl were actual BP fans and not actual Kpop fans. I am happy BP type of music is only succesful with BP though since I prefer Girl Crush to not be the what other groups search for success. Things rn are currently good for me in Kpop
I wish sexy was back as well so we can get some groups like AoA again -
