Bruh mv is giving serious new jeans vibes but instead of more upbeat sound of newjeans it has kinda gloomy sound

  • Similar to newjeans without upbeat sound? So isn't similar lol Newjeans is about the fun energy. Some of you act like anything with school theme is newjeans (as if kpop girls doesn't use school uniforms since forever)

  • Oh lord, NewJeans did not invent schoolgirl plus the MV has a darker theme which is so not NewJeans.

Plus it's a pre-release, not even the title track so the vibes for this MV doesn't necessarily mean the title track will be the same. Everyone's reaching so hard nowadays

  • I know it's in relation to like the real world stuff and their concept but I kind of agree. It seems like SM is trying out what's trending right now both in sound and aesthetics, slightly gloomy but not entirely upbeat, trap-adjacent stuff. It reminds me both of NJ and Olivia Rodrigo. I'll have to hear the TT to truly form an opinion tho.

  • If aespa had released life's too short now you would be saying the same thing. Nj's concept isnt new at all

yeah if anything new jeans were influenced by f (x) which is what sm might be trying out but newjeans concept isn't nothing innovative

  • it got more bit creepy and darker vibe

kind of similar to Purple Kiss or Billlie's story videos usually released before MV's

  • I'm confused

where did all the game/ai concept went?

Watch season 1 and the upcoming SEASON 2 of SMCU to find out.

    Summary:

They were originally in the real world before the phenomenon of digital counterparts come out of portals (ae=alter ego). Although AEs are scattered around the world, not everyone meets their counterpart.

aespa members were one of the people who met their counterpart ae and befriended them. Then the black mamba SYNK out happened which made aespa go to digital world through their ae and naevis. After defeating BM, and nævis “death”, they came back to the real world.

Naevis is resurrected to the real world (which was something that was already mentioned in both Savage and Girls lyrics). In the unreleased track (welcome to my world) the girls meet Naevis again after her “death”.

This song and video (unhappy) is before the first ae happened apparently. Where the lyrics are about their unhappiness and how everyone is disguised in their social media feed (ae people are later born out of those feeds hence they’re the people’s digital alter ego persona).

Spicy (their title track) probably will be about a new strange phenomenon in the real world because of Naevis arrival. Where the real words changes its form occasionally like Kwangya.

The girls will probably deflect even though they know Naevis is ruining the world (my theory based on spoiled Spicy lyrics, the girls embrace their villain side)

  • SMCU :clown::clown::clown:

  • I see where you are coming from, however I don’t feel the vibe. I see the similarities, however the vibe of Aespa’s is more sad, and gloomy. Compared to Newjeans friendly, playful, and vibrant vibe, it’s quite different. Personally Aespa’s teaser reminds me more of other groups, rather than newjeans.

네가 참 궁금해 그건 너도 마찬가지 (ooh, ooh)...

  • I always thought Aespa's concept was centered around the whole virtual ai thing. Before they debuted they were making a big deal about them. Did SM just decide to scrap it because it wasn't working or something?

  • And when I said New Jeans had a greater impact on the industry they acted like K was crazy. I don't even Stan NJ but even I can admit this much. No, they didn't invent anything. But it's true when a group from a big company blows up with a concept the rest of the industry begins to shift in that direction because they will always follow the trends.

  • Rather than newjeans' I say that it's closer to this masterpiece MV from 46group song, "Black Sheep"

Idk if I should put a TW or not (because there is a 2sec scene that are somewhat picturing a s*icide attempt)

i dont see any popular group going into NJ sounds yet, nevermind an industry shift. Like, groups like IVE, LSRF, NMIXX are still doing thejr original sound. Aespa is trying something new BUT these songs (including thirsty, unhappy) have all been written before this and already performed during their hyper line concert. The only new songs are Welcome to My world (which still part of their lore) and the upcoming SPICY - not sure how it sounds

Too fast to jump into conclusion NewJeans caused an indsutry shift. The only influence i can see is that NewJeans popularised the ideas of promoting multiple tracks from one release within shortee period of time (technically YG groups popularised the idea but they have longer gaps like 2-3 months)

Sure, if you're looking at just sound (which, by the way, nmixx is the worst example you can choose for your argument because they completely switched up their sound from noise music to Y2k) but this isn't just about sound. It's about style and aesthetics. For example, the all-black or natural hair tones, light make up, and 1 st gen early 2000 idol hairstyles. Yujin's hair, and almost all of IVE has switched to black. Same for LSRF. Also, LSRF teasers also switched from high fashion models to youthful teen aesthetics with that gray-blue filter. And no, before you try and say "well, groups were doing this before New Jeans" , well yeah, there were moments here and there but there is a difference when groups randomly do a concept vs. Lots of groups doing so at the same time aka a "trend". When New Jeans debuted there were lots of articles and posts by Knetz praising them for not dying their hair crazy colors. And no, I don't think its a coincidence. There are slight noticeable differences these groups have shifted to.

  • Actually SM already started doing multi MV rollouts promo for NCT few years ago and now finally doing it for aespa

Yeah they did multiple MVs years ago, Aespa never did it, and then they started doing it the year NJ popularized it. They're not all of a sudden dropping 3 b-side MVs because of something NCT did years ago.

years ago ? are you even following NCT, because they do side track pretty much every time

and it's actually not the first time either that SM give MV to GG bsides

F(x) had a mv for shadow and then rum pum pum

Red velvet got a mv for automatic and ice cream cake

and actually even SNSD got multiple MV for their 1st full album

with a MV for baby baby, Into the new world, kissing you, girl's generation

then did it again with Gee album, where they had a MV for gee and way to go

then did it again in the Run devil run album where they release a MV for echo and run devil run

and they did it for their Japanese debut album too with a MV for Mr.taxi + bad girl

    even Boa did it

so no, SM is just continuing a tradition that they had for each one of their female artist

  • For example, the all-black or natural hair tones, light make up,

That's why new kpop fans are dangerous

They don't even know what happen in kpop previously and are throwing things like this and crediting groups for something who always existed in kpop
