I'm honestly not surprised. BigBang is one of the rare groups that are Bullet proof from controversy doing any damage.

Not really. Their notoriety was part of their image. Being badass was their selling point.

Which is different from a lot of BGs who depend on being “pure” as their image.

As a fan of Bigbang since 2007, I didnt think that this song would do well, from the first listen. I was expecting it to be in top 5-10, but didnt expect it to be doing this great.

After a few listens, I think I understand why. The song focuses on its lyrics and evoking your emotions, which seems to be what SK GP type of song.

I do think this song is a testing water for Bigbang, to see whether or not the GP is still into them (in which we already know the answer).

As YG stated this isnt the end but the new beginning, I hope to hear more of their music sooner than later, hopefully for another World Tour and an awesome album like MADE (in my opinion, the only album that none of the songs are flopped).

I doubted them. Yeah, i waxed poetic many many times about having a BB vs BTS showdown, to see who the real kings of Kpop were. But deep inside, i doubted them, i thought BTS had overtaken them for good.

Never again will i doubt them lol.

This whole month is empty too. Jessi, Miyeon and Apink are all i see and none are consistent digimons, and none will ever sniff 700k UL or whatever BB is at right now.

Not particularly; they've always been immensely popular and perform really well digitally. And after hearing the song, it's even less surprising for me: it's beautiful, and it just hits.

In Korea? Not at all.

Internationally? a little.

The song is perfect for a more mature but broad GP demographic (20-50, male and female), and I think instruments/bands are starting to make a comeback so the Beatles inspiration was a brilliant move.

I gotta admit I had my reservations, not necessarily if the music will suck but if they’ll be welcomed back with open arms. I’m a new-ish VIP and this is my first time (and hopefully not the last) experiencing a BB comeback. I haven’t really checked their past stats but understood enough to know their songs are loved, not only by their fans but also by the gp. But due to the past couple of years, I did wonder. But I shouldn’t have been surprised by how well they’re currently doing. This just shows that love them or hate them, they continue to generate interest and clearly the SK gp missed their music as much as the fans do.

No, it was obvious they were going to all kill everything on release with their first real comeback in what, six years? All the controversies and time since their last release only made expectations and peoples curiosity that much higher.

The longevity of the song, and any songs released after this first comeback was another matter.

What wasnt really expected was them setting new ul peaks that havent been seen for a year or more, in a time when the domestic charts have been at the lowest numbers ever in uls and streams.

No. I was mostly focused on what kind of song they would come with.

Not really. It's what they do. I knew this would be a culture shock for new Kpop fans...anyone who started following Kpop after 2016. They learned BIGBANG comebacks hit different. Theres really no one like them.

But to me, this is things getting back to normal.

Although the numbers show they still gained fans in Korea and internationally even during this hiatus.

And with this chart performance, it's showing that the public is doing more than just checking it...they're digging it so they're streaming it. And somehow it keeps getting peaks.

Probably SOTY at this point. It would be hard to imagine anything else catching up.

I would say that I'm surprised that they are still finding ways to break new records, some of which they hold......but only a little.

Regardless, this has to be a welcome reaction by them and YG. Positive for the future.

If there was some hesitancy (I don't think there was)...this reaction was a big flashing greenlight for them to move forward.
