Who's more popular overall? Kiss of Life, BABYMONSTER or ILLIT?

  • Honestly, as someone who stans all three, it currently feels like KOL is the most/more popular group.

"You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't bout how hard you hit. It's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward." ~ Rocky Balboa

  • it is a tie between ıllıt and kıof but ı would go with illit since their debut was huge and whether it is a good or bad reason, eventually, I think ıllıt members are more known by the general public in Korea.

  • I can't really pick anyone because they all have different kinds of popularity.

If we go by individual popularity, then it's Kiof, because Natty is probably the most well known 5th gen idol individually right now.

If we go by social media engagement, then it's BM, because they have more followers compared to their peers.

If we go by popular hit songs, then it's illit, since Magnetic is doing extremely well.

Overall, though, they’re all still pretty new, so it's tough to pick one group that really stands out since none of them check all the boxes yet.

  • It's an interesting conversation the more you think about it.

ILLIT easily has the biggest individual hit

BABYMONSTER has, by far, the biggest numbers in terms of global streaming as a group

Kiss of Life have the most hit songs in Korea and also very solid global streaming

Yeah there is no clear number 1 here and honestly? I kinda like that.

Fifty fifty new line up had favourable responses in Korea too, MEOVV can get bigger too if TBL promote them properly. YP have thier own swag and niche, hopefully they can breakout too.

  • There is no difference between the three. Pre Get Loud I would have said KIOF within a second but the way it flopped :pepe-sad:

    Melon Daily debuts:

    #104. Get Loud

    #109. Drip

Considering that only Cherish debuted straight inside the top 100 and Magnetic is a way bigger hit than Sticky/Sheesh, I would say ILLIT is the most known in SK, followed by KIOF and then BM. It's just that their image isn't good rn so they aren't charting well.

BM have a bigger fandom but that's about it. There is no big gap in streams or MLs between the three so they are all equally popular internationally with ILLIT and BM having bigger fandoms due to their Big 4 group status.

  • BM is the biggest overall but YG can ruin their careers giving them mid songs!

Drip is already underperforming globally compared to Sheesh!

Babymonster’s fandom seems huge but they are only good at YouTube

Babymonster also is nonexistent to Koreans

Illit had a huge hit but all other songs from their debut ep are unknown for GP! This cb they underperformed severely both domestically and internationally! So far they seem like a one hit wonder!

Kiss of life relies too much on GP! Like look at Midas Touch spotify debut nearly 1m streams And Get Loud Spotify streams less than 200k streeams!

They don’t have Japanese nor Chinese member so they don’t have a support from those countries either so their album sales are low! They have very little core fanbase unfortunately! And their songs get more streams most of the time when choreo gets viral which is not a good sign(Sticky, Nobody Knows, Igloo)! But they have best songs among 5th gen kpop groups which will be their biggest advantage!

Individually Natty is most well known both in Korea and Internationally!

The most potential among these 3 to get big is Kiss of Life because of their songs! They have very high quality tts and bsides! And eventually people will choose to listen to quality music!

Babymonster’s talents won’t save them and even BP little sister status too! Debut hype of Babymonster will be over next year and if until then YG doesn’t give them good enough songs then Babymonster will be in a similar situation to Nmixx!

Illit’s success depends on Hybe push or “payola” as people love to say!

If we only look at the stats in Korea, it's obviously KIOF. Why? Because they do this as a nugu group, while ILLIT wouldn't survive a single day at a small agency, and Babymon is actually struggling in SK even as a talented BIG4 group, because YG doing a shit job!

But outside of Asia, it's obviously Babymon thanks to the mass promotion from YG.

I mean, just look at this, KIOF's FULL ENGLISH B-Side charting better than Babymon's latest track, and yes they didn't start promoting it on Music Shows etc.

ILLIT latest comeback peaked at #36 on TOP100. That's a flop as a BIG4 group.

  • I didn't expect BM to open such a wide gap so quickly

Where are all the BM stans at on AKP? I feel like there's only two, Tru-Multistan and Dreamer95 and the latter is just a token stan

Probably not stans per se, just people voting on what they perceive as likely the most logical choice out of the three. Realistically I would have voted BM to, even though I dislike them. But I do like shitting on and skewing poll data and I also like KioF anyway.

  • lol how optimistic you are about illit charting power lol. magnetic was payola gone semi viral. but also it was vampirism on njs during a very anticipated yet long delayed comback. now kakao isn't accepting their payola anymore and ador called them out for their copycatism as it should.

truth is, illit by their own has very little hype around them. and even after mass payola, they couldn't grab the gps attention as a group or as members. tragic.

    BM also had payola.

honestly, it's so obvious, the only artist who gathered authentic hype around them were KIOF with their summer release. and even now they are buzzing internationally with igloo. the song is probably gonna rise too. i think this comback didn't do as well because the promo was really bad.

anyway. as i keep on saying, kiof have real star factor and also great songs. they are the moment and they are the future amongst these 3 groups.

  • This poll of your just illustrates the complexity of the human experience. It just isn't comparable when almost no variable matches. I mean that the compariosion is nonsense, you just can't compare a ear to a nose, yk. Those groups sell to different audiences and each of them serves a market niche the other doesn't.

I believe the only thing they have in common is the fact that none has achieved great popularity amongst the GP.

  • Right now -

    Overall KIOF.

2nd a bit behind, mainly thanks to locked on youtube streaming, is Babymonster.

Illit's 3rd because whilst they have a hit song, it appears to mostly be a one-hit wonder type of song and not group popularity.

However it's inverse for the likelihood to be the most popular group long term.

Illit come from Hybe, and eventually will just keep spamming spotify discovery/playlisting their way into a winning position in a fake it till you make it scenario. I think long term they have a good shot at being the most popular

Babymonster for some extent do that too (also with the massive ad spam on YT), but they have a far less competent producing team behind them. 2nd in popularity long term

KIOF have been the most impressive personally, but they're from a nugu label, and they're going to struggle like early (G)I-DLE did, until you lock in that fandom, you're at the whims of your songs hitting the GP. They'll need a Queendom 1 like event to lock in a fandom. It's more likely they'll subside in popularity and GP as time goes on.

That said,, the start of 5th gen is rough compared to the start of 4th gen. 4th Gen had I-dle, Itzy, and Iz*one all getting multiple top songs (each having their first 3 all hit top 20) in melon and in Korea, 5th gen has struggled much more in Korea in comparison.

Sheesh is the 3rd most stream girlgroup song this year plus they have really strong fandom so for now i'll say babymonster

  • BM also had payola.

    wdym by payola?

Ad views does not count in yt chart. So if BM charts in yt, it is obviously because of their organic views. Ntm, baemon has consistent 1 million likes on their music releases on yt. That’s a lot compared to other groups.

In spotify, babymonster have stable streams despite the shtty playlisting. Even kiof in a small company has more playlist reach than babymonster.

  • bm got album sales, streaming farm in thailand, fans along with their mothers who's willing to buy ticket for their concert, social media followers, youtube views (of course with their ads) and also some power to chart 2 times on global spotify

its so obvious that the answer is bm.

Their latest album didn't chart even a single song in the top 100 on MelOn.

Does this not matter to anybody?
