Why the hell is nmixx not as popular as newjeans/ive/asepa or maybe more popular?
They are really good singers, they look amazing (both individually and as a group) and they are amazing performers.
There is nothing bad about them so why they are not popular when they tick all the main boxes to become popular and have a big fandom?

But in my experience fandoms don't necessarily consider music much else half of asepa's songs would be considered painful noise (not their singing skills, just unbearable and experimental beats).
Their members are mediocre af, not up to big3 standard, commoner level which nugu companies would debut

You mean individual personality or individual skills? Their skills are good in my view.
The music
They should have debuted with Dash
O.O's backlash followed by DICE was irreversible for their brand.
Nowdays they release music that could be liked my a big portion of K-pop community, but people would associate them with bad music even If they released the new Bohemian Rhapsody, so many don't even bother checking out.
Girlgroups can't have such a negative image over their work, almost all of them don't have a large fandom to cover it up.
I hated their debut song and so didn't bothered to check out other music of them
Their debut song wasn't what kpop fans were expecting from them and then their first cb just made things worst like.. sure they are super talented, but their music direction seemed lost. I remember that they had some hype before debut, but it went downhill pretty quickly.. now everybody knows they are talented, but their music is still not interesting enough and they couldn't get a viral moment big enough to make non fans into fans.
It's like Treasure imo. Everybody knows about them, but just their fb checks them and I'm saying this when I like Treasure 
Do they deserve more? Sure. But some changes need to happen.
Wut? Aespa is the literal definition of ONE HIT WONDER. An 11 out of 10 with Next Level and nothing higher than a 7 the rest of the way at least for promoted singles. And most songs in the 3-6 range. It was a literal desert, a trail of tears after the stratospheric peak of Next Level.
NMIXX was dead on arrival, sabotaged by JYP. I admittedly haven't checked out any of their newer songs, but that's because their debut was literally one of the worst things I've ever heard in my life, and the follow-up was just as bad. This stigma is going to follow them for the rest of their careers.

i like nmixx's music. generally II lean more towards experimental side of kpop. but I can def see how they would not be as popular with the mainstream public. but that's ok, I'll just keep enjoying their music. BOOM and passionfruit are in my top ten this year even if they are just b sides with no mv.

Because JYP is trying hard to teach ILLIT sing, and that takes a lot of time. 
Jokes aside, Kpop fans, especially the new ones, has to stop to care about popularity. 99% of the mainstream groups will fade away after a couple of years. The only thing you should care about is talent and good music.

NMIXX's songs are not worse than any ILLIT, NewJeans or other mainstream songs.
I'm not a massive fan of NMIXX, I hardly follow them, but based on what I heard from ILLIT, NJ, NMIXX, Babymonster, Aespa and some other new groups, the difference between them is not big. In terms of "catchy" songs.
The fact is, JYP is not as mainstream as they were, same goes for YG, that's why Babymon is "flopping" technically. The next couple of years will be about HYBE and SME.
Nah, that's not true. Whatever you think of Aespa's music, at least it is catchy.
I like Aespa, but catchy and quality is not the same thing.

I see no lies. Even Dice would have been more safe than O.O and O.O could have been just a b-side they performed at music shows alongside Tank . 
O.O is the intrusive thought that should have never left the producer's mind

aespa music while sometimes experimental is not as much a mess as O.O. I love NMIXX members but the music is either very disjointed or generic. i like it from the most part but it's not for everyone. Not only that but aespa have songs who are loved beyond their fandom and actual hits. NMIXX have none.
JYP also struggle to give them a musical identity. Once they are NMIXX pop with their disjointed songs and the next comeback they go for a pure/innocent concept.
You are talking about fandoms but you are underestimated the casual fans or listeners who don't always care about who in the group, They want nice music. All the top girl groups have some casual listeners and the GP on their side at some point but NMIXX music is too polarizing. Kpop fans in my experience also care about the music quality way more than they are given credit for. Apart from the token stans who leave the boat when a group begins to flop, most fans unstan a group when the music is not their cup of tea anymore.
1. Music isn't really good.
2. They have nothing interesting going on, whether it's their concept, a member or whatever...
I see a lot of people mentioning Aespa, but they had a more unique concept that made people talk a lot about them during debut and following comebacks.
3. Their outfits are not big4 level, this might be silly but I feel like fashion is more important in 4th gen than before. If I didn't know them, I would've never guessed they were a JYP group.
I've always thought this but I feel like they're a 3rd gen gg (which isn't something bad, just a thought).
First, i don't think they could be as popular as those groups, they are not pretty enough, and this is very important in Kpop. Now, besides that, IMO is all JYP's fault. I believe the people in charge is not talented enough and don't have enough resources. Jesus, you have a group who can sing well, start from there. I saw group with members who can't sing shit, but in their songs, in the studio version sound better than Nmixx. Thats pure incompetence. My only hope is that the last album was nice, they sound better. Perhaps JYP is learning, perhaps.

They are not.
They're great singers, and live singers. But they have little stagecraft, don't have charisma on stage, they can't *entertain a crowd or stage*. They can execute choreo and sing well, but it's all very mechanical.
They'll probably improve as they get on, but they lack as performers in situations like stagecraft, charisma, and control of the space.
Everytime I see someone link a 'great performers' link here, they can't hold a candle to any of the great stage performers - Gdragon, CL, Soyeon, Jihyo, Jhope, Hwasa etc. None of them have *it* on stage.
I checked them out today and I can clearly see potential to outperform even the best acts of industry. Their raw skills are just that good, and add their looks and you get complete package.
It's hard to have an honest discussion about them if you're just gonna be delusional.
They can't rap for shit, they're not even better vocalists then Mamamoo, and I just go indepth to their stagecraft.
They are a very strong vocal unit, with some stronger visuals, and they can dance competently. They aren't some unicorn of talent that their fans make them out to be, they have some clear weaknesses, and that's partly the reason there's a gulf between your delusions and reality.
And that's before we even talk about the music.
Their music. People either hated or loved O.O and DICE, and then JYP made them go for a more standard sound with Love Me Like This & Party o Clock. It led to an overall confused brand and musical image. Their most recent comeback in January got positive reviews from people who checked it out, but Dash wasn't a viral hit that got people to pay attention to them.
As someone00 said, the only people who check their music out are fans, casual or hardcore. They clearly have the talent and are a visually cohesive group but their rookie years have irreparably changed how the Kpop community sees them.
