Where do all the American (USA) IU and Twice fans hide?

  • OK, so as the threads that I will link to below have 'proven', IU is irrelevant outside Korea, she may as well get promoted by the nugu promoter accounts that I follow. So knowing that, I figured nobody was going to buy tickets for her concert in my city.

So I get comfortable and log in to my Ticketmaster account 15 or so minutes before her tickets went on sale, and surprise-surprise, the tickets were sold out by the time it was my turn to buy.

How is this possible, she sold like 5 albums in the USA for her last comeback, she probably charts as high as Tri.Be on the billboard charts, and yet I could not get tickets, WHY?

Twice at least sells albums in the USA, so ok, they chart like Pixy but sell albums like NewJeans in the USA, so I get that there may be some people out there that live inside caves, or that come out from under their rocks when Twice has a concert, then they do like the Cicadas and go hibernate for years at a time.

BUT IU, who in the greatest country in the world has ever heard of IU?

Where did these people come from? and why did they take my tickets!

    I WANT MY TICKETS!!!!!!!!!!

  • For the record, this isn't surprising, at all, especially if you follow her career and her fandom closely. Her fans in Canada are one of the biggest, probably. I can't even remember how many times they did huge fundraisings and many other things. We would be here all day if I write it all down. And don't forget, IU is not just a singer, she's an actress, too.

Her Billboard charts proved many times over the years that she doesn't need to do massive PR overseas. I mean, look at her numbers. Some of her stats are better than the colored group's. She's not in the HOT100, because she never did a PR in the US, but that's all, basically.

Also, don't forget, the LOUD MINORITY don't represent the whole community!

Should have added some more dates. But i also understand why they started with less dates.

  • Currently if a kpop concert comes to city, many kpop fans will go to it. That's because there are not really that many kpop concerts happening.

However in 2 years time, when there is going to be a kpop concert every 2nd week in the bigger cities, kpop fans are going to be more picky, and only go if its their faves or its one of the big acts.

  • So WhyKnock was saying nonsense all these years?

I read so many essays for nothing...

    Mentioning people talking nonsense.

what ever happened to HardcoreBLINK ??????

I have not seen him/her around for a while.

There got to be some fame to the group, my faves could not even sell out a bingo hall of 600 people capacity back in 2023.

This is a good point. It seems most people who go to K-pop concerts are multistans.

  • Once again touring proves it's more relevant than album sales and charting.

NewJeans are probably terrified to announce a world tour. If every show doesn't sell out in 5 minutes they will look like flops.

I like how you used Once in the beginning.

They make shit for pennies with album sales or whatever YT/Circle bla bla sales.

The money is and always will be in tours.

Yep TVXQ are probably the second richest group after BTS cause of their touring throughout the years especially in Japan.

They didn't build that wealth on their declining album sales since Mirotic album.

The myth of the casual fan that goes to any kpop concert, unless they are nugu.

    We solve the puzzle.

exactly. Why do you think most of them are worth millions of dollars net.

    There's exactly three things:

Touring, Brand deals, CF's (in that exact order)

That's it. That is where the money is from.

The rest is to pay the staff and so forth.

There is a lot of money to be made now in days convincing poor people to buy luxury items.

Although I love NJS, if they both come to town and money is limited, it'll be IU over NJs.

I can watch NJS when they come back.

IU's an institution, her songs iconic.

  • I don’t think people understand how K-pop fans in real life operate. K-pop fans in real life are multistans. They don’t spend their lives exclusively stanning their favorites and seeing every other K-pop artist as a threat, fighting over metrics and bulk buying to defeat other groups.

People from every fandom are going to see IU because she is IU.

People hate on casual fans and multis, but we’re the ones out here doing actual work to support these artists and really bonding with other fans over our shared interest.

  • This isn't the time for NJ, yet. They have like 20 songs? Their first World Tour will happen in 2026, probably. If HYBE is smart, they will do it before BTS comes back.

I don't know what the hell I'm going to do, btw, because IU is coming to Europe too, 1 MONTH after Wheein, and Moonbyul is coming to Europe as well, probably. I have to chose, but this is Mission Impossible. 🤣

now I have to wait and buy the dvd/bluray concerts version. "Money wins all" 😭

Probably that's what I'm going to do, because I can't see IU and my Mamamoo members too, and all 4 of them will do a World Tour this year. I'M 100% sure that IU will do another World Tour, but I don't think MMM members will.

And this is me after 2024!🤣

You wish, if European sales go like USA sales, you may not even get the chance to go broke buying IU tickets.

  • You wish, if European sales go like USA sales, you may not even get the chance to go broke buying IU tickets.

Honestly, right now, I'm not even planning, because I can't go 3 or 4 different concert. I'm not worried about the tickets, because in Europe I can get tickets thanks to my connections, but I still have to pay the same price. Honestly, as much as LOVE her, there's a much better chance to see her live again in the next couple of years, but I don't think I can say the same about Mamamoo members.

  • Preach!✝️

My respect for you increased tenfold for seeing and saying it how it is!

Casual fans and multifans deserve more respect. I know none of the fandoms on AKP will ever see me as their own, but I’m really putting in the work to promote their faves’ work by recommending songs, putting people onto the artists, and plugging K-pop every chance I get. All this beefing with each other is pointless because the real end goal is to be on par with western artists, to tour in American stadiums and arenas, and to just have a good time. Whether it’s BTS or some nugu, it’s a W.

  • American Twice fans are not known for hiding, so I'm not sure what we have to do with this.

That is why I added twice, like where do all those people come from?

They are obviously not streaming Twice. but when Twice comes to town, they gobble up all the tickets.
