How would you get the public to care about JYP girl groups again?

  • This gen is all about branding. You have to make your group known. You need to come up with a style for them and put their mascots/symbols everywhere. You need to make them so cool that people want to brag about being a stan of them.

  • Everybody loves pointing out the huge decline in digital performance and love from the general public for Twice, Itzy and NMIXX

Well does anyone have any ideas for how they'd get these groups moving in the right direction (and can speculate why what JYP has tried hasn't worked)? 🤔

    Create more groups!

That has to be the answer.

  • Huge decline in digital and love ? Nmixx ?

Declining suppose that the artist used to be at the top at one point

JYP girl groups used to be synonymous with chart dominance. That basically hasn't been the case for the entire 2020s.

Yeah that's a decline. The year end numbers for JYP groups were carried by Stray Kids and only internationally

  • I don't think these three group will do much more than go as they do. Twice is at the last leg of their their run and will just go on as they do to the end in a slower tempo and preper to their disbaning. I

ITZY? not a new group either, hard to see them suddenly get more popular, maybe if they suddenly have a big hit, but hard to see that happen.

NMIXX? A bit similar to ITZY, they probably need a big hit to really get a surge in popularity, so a bit of luck is needed.

As I say, these group probably will just go on as they do today. The biggest chance is proably a group coming after a disbanding of Twice.

  • Stop with the constant comebacks.

People often talk about Twice and why they declined, but not often about this reason.

If nobody has the time to miss you, nobody will be hyped for your next comeback.

I think Twice has great potential as a multi fans favorite as an addition to their core fanbase (which they still have), but they need to get people excited as well and they won't be if they always seem to have another comeback.

Also, English speakers and songs are necessary now.

Not making a judgment on how this is good or bad for Kpop, but just stating a fact.

  • No, at twice's peak they were doing like 6-8 comebacks a year (KR+JP). What was their downfall was the change of concept. Koreans loved their aegyo bubblegum pop, but it was obvious that they couldn't continue doing that as they got older.

And probably another reason was that a lot of their uncle fans left or overtime moved to new groups after they started publically dating.

  • Diversify

I said this a while ago about Twice but JYP's objective seems to be building fanbases and milking them for all they're worth. They're more like a content farm than a company with any creativity. They make idols, not celebrities

Concept: instead of constantly selling a concept and image, just make music people want and can relate to. Itzy has been screeching out the same shit since Not Shy. As much flack as Blackpink gets for being "repetitive" , they have more lyrical diversity. Not enough acid in the world to make me understand an Nmixx song. JYP needs to stop being selfish and just let Jihyo, Dahyun and Chaeyoung handle the title tracks

Star factor: JYP has a lot of talent with Star factor, they don't ever really utilize it. Groups have better longevity when members bring in fans from other projects

Put Nayeon, Dahyun, Ryujin, Yuna and Lily Nmixx on varieties

Put Jihyo, Mina, Sullyoon, Yuna into acting

Promote MiSaMo more in Japan as individuals, start trying to mend the bridge with Tzuyu and China

Do more OSTs for the main and lead vocals

  • i think it's ok that twice is declining because they are old but itzy and nmixx have no excuse

jyp needs to stop making such annoying bad concepts and comebacks.

you can see it with vcha too. why is he so into annoying music???

nmixx just needs a new concept. they're so annoying. like they're always wearing ugly clothes and singing stupid songs. they have such pretty voices so they should be used in a PRETTY song.

itzy like i don't even know they just need some good songs. I think he should make their korean songs sound like their japanese songs.

I just think the badass concept he's trying to push itzy in right now is over used and looks cheap. give them something different.

  • Also real talk

They should probably see what (G)I-DLE is doing right

Because (G)I-DLE started weaker than ITZY, and debuted earlier than ITZY, so logically (G)I-DLE should be the one that is more "forgotten" and "replaced" by the new toys like IVE/New Jeans/LSFM.

Latata was no were as big as Dalla Dalla, and ITZY follow up songs like Icy and Wannabe did better than Hann or Senorita.

But (G)I-DLE is competing fiercely with the newer groups now why is that? Like what are they doing right that still keeps them relevant on the charts?

Is it Queendom revival? Is it Soojin effect? Is it individual members? I don't follow closely with the group and members but I keep seeing Miyeon and Yuqi everywhere maybe that's it? Is it the songs? Soyeon the composing genius?

  • A big 4 girl group is never going to align themselves with feminism.

Idle was always on the rise, especially after Queendom but the real reason Tomboy blew up was it being released after President Yoon was elected

Yes, it actually allows for fatigue when this level is sustained for many years. A lot of fans can't even buy albums that often and it lessens the interest and hype.

There are other reasons, but this is one of them.

Dude, JYP don't care about your or someone's else opinion except their shareholders. Either you should become shareholder or just stop buying their albums, so JYP will start thinking about improvements.

Overall, there is no rule to stay focused on BIG-4 only, because their content is not better, or their idols are not more talented than non-big-4 colleagues. The only diff that BIG-4 can spend unlimited money for nonsense "achievements" like 100M views or streams to ensure you to listen them because they are "popular".

  • The secret is they imaged themselves as anti-bullying group, because they decided to kick out Soojin instead of trying to justify that she is not bully. Since Koreans are obsessed with bullying agenda like Americans obsessed with racism and lgbt, Gidle hit the jackpot.

Huh? I see actually zero correlation between what I said in the OP and your response. I...never said that JYP cares about my opinion, but how do you know I'm not a shareholder?

Regardless, it's just a harmless thought exercise. No K-Pop executive cares about what gets posted on the AKP forums. I think we're all cognizant of that lol

  • Doing good on korea is not a secret formula only few people known, is very easy: promote a lot and do good catchy songs that appeal the general public, from 2015 to 2018 twice did all of that and they got the best years digitally any korean girl group ever had, when in 2019-2021 they stopped promoting on korea they still had good catchy songs that appealed the general public, now they have neither of those so they get really bad results like scientist and set me free, if they want to change it they need to do better.

they went back with the catchy "talk that talk" but they didn't top the chart neither -_-

You're correct, except Twice stopped promoting much earlier. They decently promoted only during 2016-2017, from 2018 onwards their variety appearances were already reduced, and it was more of milking the existing brand than growing it.

yeah, what is love was the last era they promoted decently on korea (3 weeks), they also stopped promoting between comebacks, since then the only time twice appeared in front of the general public was during the week of their promos and then months of radio silence until their next comeback. They also stopped doing festivals on 2019.

  • they went back with the catchy "talk that talk" but they didn't top the chart neither -_-

talk that talk is not catchy, they also have not promoted on korea on years and the era had a conceptual problem where jyp simply didn't know what the fuck the comeback was about so it neither tick any of the requirements I mentioned, ttt still did decently, better than most of songs on the top 25 of melon rn.
