I saw the same opinion on reddit too. Personally I prefer stage names, it’s easier for me because their real names are similars.
I think people do that to feel closer to their favs

I only the real name for Taehyung. "V" feels too short. It could be assumed as a typo.

sometimes idols themselves prefer if people/fans use their real name
examples are LOONA's Olivia Hye and Yves
both said they really do like when people call them using their real names: Hyeju and Sooyoung

TwiceKaren meet WhyKnock , he who thinks it is bad juju to call idols by their preferred stage names.
So Blackpink has Pranpriya Manoban and Roseanne/Chae-young Park
Then there is Ennik Douma
But he is particularly about another idol "She who must not be named" , else she will comeback and destroy K-pop, therefore calls her by her original name or madeup names of his own creation.
But he does not do so because he feels close with them.. I will let him explain why.

I think he is the only one that i am more used to his real name than V so i will alow it!

Just want to say i understand why you people call your idols by their real names and i am not saying it's bad for you to do it, i am just saying that as a non fan since i am not familiar with their real names i sometimes get lost when people talking about them like i am a bit familiar with some but i could totally be wrong
I think people call J-hope Hobi or something? and i think Suga is yongi or something like that? and Kyungsoo is D O and i forgot Kai's but i know is used often too, RM i thought i knew it already but i can't seem to recall anymore it's just confusing to me, it's a me issue not saying fans are wrong to do it just that i personally dislike it because it's hard to follow

Rm is Namjoon. i mean their real names are used in the fan chant instead of stage names so i guess its natural for many to also call them that and BTS seem alright with folks calling them with real names/stage names/nick names.

In my defense there was no was in hell I was gonna go around saying I stan rap monster

it's only confusing as nonfans. i thought there were like 5 other bts members at first bc everyone was using their real names instead of their stage names and i was like ????? how many people does this group even have??? until i googled it and realized what was happening
i get why fans do it it's just confusing for everyone else lol

Suga* is stage name of Yoongi
Jin uses short form of his name Seok Jin
Jung Kook uses his own name as stage name
J-Hope is stage name of Hoseok. Hobi is how hope-ie is pronounced in Korean so even intl fans call him that
RM stage name of Nam Joon
Jimin uses real name as Stage Name
V stage name of Tae Hyung
-
I will continue calling them by their real names.
eyyy!!!!

be like: Hi this is my husband rap monster. yes, that's his name

Imagine him just being known as Joon. That's a cool sounding name, which isnt always the case when Korean names are translated into English. They never had to introduce Rap Monster, RM or anything else. Just Joon.
I think Hoseok and Jhope loses out the most. His Korean name is way too easily made fun of by locals, kids get bullied with names like that, it's literally pronounced Ho-Suck. But then some fans find Jhope cringey too. But as someone said, Hobi is a perfect stage name for him, it references his Korean name while also sounding cute to locals.
Imagine BTS as just this:
JK
Hobi
Joon
Tae

Hobi means my love in arabic
When they visited riyadh, everyone on my tl was just talking about this all day

Naah SUGA is a cooler name than YG imo
Plus it stands for shooting guard, his position in basketball so the backstory is cool too
-
I think fans also take their cues from members
like others said BTS use their real names in the fanchant and they often use them when they talk to each other or about each other
so fans just copy that. I mostly use short forms for convenience, so Jin, JK, Jimin, Suga/Yoongi, RM/Joon, Hobi and Tae are the names I type the most. I dislike one letter names tbh, I often read people using v for very and get confused.
